New guy from Winona

Just got my first DSM, after having dreamed of owning one now for the past 4 years. Here's some pics:

First of all, some of the things that are wrong with it are that is has cut springs, over sized tires, the idiot painted the rear window black, removed the rear wiper and cut the defroster wires. The good things are that it has a ported head, ported 2g manifold, runs 14psi, and has all the free mods done to it.

But anyway, I look forward to modding this beast, and to meet new people.

Prepare for your best dream to quickly turn into your worst nightmare ;) Congrats though, the car looks pretty clean for its age!

Did you just buy that? If so where from? I think I know the guy that use to own it... That looks like Shamus's old hood that he smashed when the hood pins cam loose and it hit the windshield!

Did he sell it to a guy named Dave? If so, that's it then. I just bought it last wed., the guy lived a bit past houston.

I think it might be the same car... I'm not sure. Oh well. Welcome to the community. I'm Jake and another DSM in the great fucked up town of Winona.

If you need anything done or help with anything let me know.

Re: New guy from Winona

Thanks for the welcomes, guys.

If anyone in the winona area has any stock sized tires for really cheap, please let me know. I ordered some Intrax lower springs off ebay, along with KYB adjustable shocks for the front. I still might need the correct sized tires though.

But in other news, I smoked my friend's Lexus SC300 non-turbo tonight on a 2nd gear roll. :-D

IMO, there are much better spring choices than Intrax. Their quality isn't exactly top-notch and they don't ride that well. Get the same shocks for the rear of your car too, doing just the fronts will upset the balance of your car and can make the handling unsettling and possibly even dangerous. Lowered on stock shocks is never a good idea and will more often than not actually hurt performance.

All I got to say is that anything's better than the cut springs that make noise when I steer. I got that stuff off ebay for cheap, and I don't plan to be trying to out handle anything any time soon.

I just hope the springs don't drop it anymore than it already is. I actually hope they raise it up a bit to try and stop the tires from rubbing.

HAHA damn, yeah they will be better than cut springs! At least order some KYB AGX shocks for the rear too. Might as well do it once, do it right.

I just noticed that you have 2 sets of speakers in the front door.. wtf? LOL

The guy before me was a real smart one. He didn't like the alpines so he broke em, and then instead of taking them out he drilled new holes for new pioneers.

So now my door panels are junk.

Well, got my used Intrax springs and front KYB shocks in. They're going in tomorrow. I'm so happy to get rid of the pos cut ones.

Re: New guy from Winona

Good deal on the AFC. Get it dyno-tuned up here in the Cities.

...and buy new rear shocks! How many miles on those front shocks?

123abc 12-17-2006 10:38 AM

Re: New guy from Winona

I have no idea how many miles are on them. But I installed them yesterday, and it rides and drives like a dream now. I'll get some rear shocks when I see some used on ebay.

Twack helped me install the S-AFC yesterday too. Made a few of those learning mistake, but she's good to go. Really neat how I can look at my throttle position and have a 4 digit rpm gauge.

Now I need a data logger, and I'll have to have her tuned.

EDIT: Here's a pic of the RF spring....could explain why it was hard to steer and made noises all the time:
