Do you Fondue?

Any of you guys, or even lurking girls, do Fondue on a regular basis? Or even just once in a while? We have a dessert based setup right now that's tealight heated. We have not even used it before. Got it from my uncle last year for xmas. Are they any good to use and any good things to make?

My family used to Fondue on christmas eve as a tradition. It was a 2 hr meal cause you arent eating a huge platefull at once. I never really liked the desert fondue, not much for melted chocolate on strawberrys and such. Cheese fondue is good though if you like brocolli and cauliflower.

As far as regular food though, pretty much anything goes. Cheese curds, steak, pork, shrimp, etc...

I wish we still did it, it was always good and a fun time.

I've only done fondue once. It was regular oil fondue with meat and veggies and stuff. It was fun, but I would recommend some sort of dipping sauce or seasoning, because it was a little bland.

I love fondue, but I'm used to an electric pot. I hate the ones you have to use a tea light to keep it warm. My family and I used to have dinner (oil) with steak. It was so much fun. I love desert fondue's more than cheese one's. Could have been the cheese recipe my friend used, but it just wasn't that great.

My family also does this as a tradition on New Years. I love it and yes you can't really eat that fast so it lasts a long time. Good for a event that you actually want to talk to people. If you are on a date with someone you don't know its not a good idea, cause if they are annoying you can't get the fuck away from them for a few hours.

I personally like the oil Fondue, with steak, pork, and shrimp. You can then make some batter and throw whatever veggie you want in the mix.

I fondued once and it was last year on New Years Eve. We did the oil thing for dinner and chocolate and fruit for desert. I have to say I really liked the venison we did in the oil but god damn does it take forever. None of us had fondued before so we thought it was going to be pretty quick. After like an hour and a half we were still hungry so we got after the fruit and chocolate. I have to say I like that better because you dont have to wait 4-7 minutes for it to cook.
