Lazy Sunday
My friend Jared and I were bored today so we hopped in his car and drove 5 hours deep into Iowa. We eventually found ourselves in the outskirts of the Quad Cities in Bettendorf. Cow tipping was the original objective, but as luck would have it this poor 2003 Evolution 8 was lonely and in need of a new home. Needless to say I got distracted.

(The Evo, not the Elantra...) http://static.flickr.com/99/30149569...19431b.jpg?v=0 http://static.flickr.com/117/3014956...886990.jpg?v=0 The trip went without a hitch other than dodging road kill while traveling both ways. The car is what you'd expect for a 3 year old car with 43,000 miles on the clock. A lot of highway miles as the seller had taken many cross country trips to and from Wyotech, and his dad had most recently been driving it to work across town. No real power modifications which was a big selling point. Unfortunately, every caliper's clear coat is flaking off, and the clear coat on the carbon fiber spoiler is messed up. So far I'm extremely happy. For having driven a 1991 Grand Prix every day for the past 8 years, and as selfish as it sounds, I believe I'm entitled to a nice car for once. |
Re: Lazy Sunday
Some pictures the previous owner recently took.

Re: Lazy Sunday
1) Is that the Evo7 front?
2) I'm confused, did you just buy that thing? |
Re: Lazy Sunday
Gratz Matt!! Everyone is getting an Evo, I feel left out!

Re: Lazy Sunday
Sweet man, glad you finally got rid of the Prix!

Re: Lazy Sunday
She's beautiful man, congrats.

Re: Lazy Sunday
Purdy. BTW, I don't think that seems selfish at all. Have some fun with it. I must request a ride sometime, whenever you feel the need to throw it into a corner.....

Re: Lazy Sunday
Here's the mod list to answer questions pertaining to them:
Reese Millen Racing intake pipe JDM MItsubishi MR BOV Recirc Koyo Aluminum Radiator ACT stage 2 Street clutch ACT racing flywheel GReddy Turbo Timer Aftermarket Front mount (not sure which brand, came with the car) Short mechanical history of the car: The 2nd to 3rd syncro and the 4th to 5th syncro were replaced by Mitsubishi when the car was just under 30k miles.(warranty) 2k miles ago the car recieved an ACT street clutch and their lightened racing flywheel. Last month the brake pads were replaced and the car recieved 4 new rotors. I'm happy, and the car is solid, feels as tight as a new car. There's only one interior rattle around the driver side A-pillar when the RPMs dip below 1000 when coming to a stop. The guy that owned it is a Wyotech graduate, and given the rundown of previous cars he and his dad have owned and the fact that he just picked up an SC300 with a 2JZGTE (no shit?) made me not doubt a word he said to me about the car. |

My ideal Evo was white with SSL. Unfortunately this is not SSL. But it's an Evo. I feel I got plenty of car for my money, and the fact that I only had to travel around 10 hours total without flying made it completely worth it. |
