After hearing here how the thing to do is use factory mitsu oil filters I decided to pick one up. The part number is MZ690116. It is small that the Bosch I have been using, the circumference that is. Is this the correct part???

91 Turbo BTW.

Thanks

I dont have a way to check the part number, but there are a number of different sized oil filters for our cars. I know the new mitsu filter is small (you used to have a choice between the large and small filters, but not anymore).

I will check the number when I get home as I have one sitting on top of my car. They are small filters though.

Mitsu only uses 2 sizes of filters for all Mitsu Cars now. It's gonna be hard to mess them up now. There are only 2 part #s.

Just tell them you want the "big one", they'll know what you mean, I had to do that once.

Is the big one better? I just picked up a small one last week. Whats the diff? Yea I was amazed how much smaller it was.

More surface area to the filter element.

They all use the same amount of filtering element actually, the larger ones just have a higher capacity.

I don't think the Large ones work anymore if it's a Mitsu Filter. I think they changed all DSMs to the "small unit". Go figure.

I know for a fact that they discontinued the larger style. I got a couple of the last ones from Maplewood Mitsu last summer and the parts guy told me they were being replaced.

If you relocate the oil filter,( like I did ) you could use a N/T 95 mitsu filter it's bigger. and I like it better than the V1a ford filter, or just buy purolator thay kick but to IMOP.

i was told by a dealership that they discontinued the bigger one because the small one worked better. the smaller ones seem to get rid of the lifter tick.
