No Compression?

Well, I am kind of at a loss. I dunno what is going on. I just got done putting new rings and bearings in my 92 Laser RS. I tried to start it but it won't start. I have spark and fuel. Injectors are working. The only thing is I have no compression. All of the timing marks are dead on as well. Any ideas?

Did you remember to put a headgasket on? ;)

Yah, that would be a problem.

Where are you getting that you have no compression? compression test? Do you have NO compression or LOW compression? If you didnt put the HG on you would still get some compression. How did you line up the timing marks? Did you move the crank and then the cam gears? You could have bent a valve or something.

Go back and make sure the timing marks are correct.

The headgasket is on and the head is torked down properly. The timing marks are lined up correctly but I am going to double check.

Re: No Compression?

In order to have zero compression you would pretty much have to have bent valves or a hole in the piston lol. If timing was off when you turned the car over it is very likely to have bent valves.

Maybe your compression tester is bunk.

A cheap tool not working properly, un-possible. I have seen small bits of stuff, metal shavings dirt etc, hold open valves. Was the intake manifold cleaned out? Also an engine needs 3 things to run, fuel spark and compression, in the proper order would help also.
