Yes, caused by blow by. Get a new dip stick and all should be good.

Re: dip stick!

PCV is located on the back passenger side of the valve cover. Just unhook the hose and unscrew it. It should only allow air to pass one direction. You can blow in it, but I think you should hook a compressor up to it to really check it's functionality.

BTW a new dipstick from Brookdale is less than $13 and a PCV less than $6.

Bah, the most n00b question there is on a DSM forum. I thought you have been around for a while.;)

If you want to go ghetto cheap just crimp the dip stick tube.

I already knew what it was. Just wanted to know if there was other possabilities. I've never ran into this problem in any of my 10 dsm's I've owned. My problems are usually alot larger than this :P

20 bucks for a PCV valve and dip stick is good enough for me :) No need to ghetto cheap that. If you can't afford 20 dollar fix, you don't belong owning a dsm!

SleepyDSM came up with a clever fix for this.
he looped some wire through the dipstick handle and secured the wire to the tube via hose clamp

Thank you, everyone needs to read this! If you aren't will to fix something the right way when it costs under $20 you don't belong owning anything other than a bus pass.
