3M Bra

Where do people get these? I want to look into one of their stick on bras for the hood of our car.

Pros and Cons with these products?

Re: 3M Bra

There really are no cons aslong as the installer is good at it. If you do get it, get the front of the hood, fenders, and front bumper done to prevent all rock chips. Get some headlight film too so your front end is completely protected.

Yea definetly get the 6 done in it. It will cost a couple hundred atleast, but its worth it because your car is brand new with no chips yet.

A lot of shops that do window tint also do the clear 3M bras. Its kind of the same type of work. They do a great job of protecting the car. Only bad thing is you can see the line of where the clear bra ends. On lighter cars its not so noticeable. On my black Eclipse, you can see it from 20 feet away.

There is also some good info on this EvoMN thread:

Awesome, we will have to get this done after I get one chip in the hood fixed up. :( Brookdale is covering this.

Anyone have any suggestions for places to get it installed?

Talk with your dealer, most will have a guy/shop they use for this type of work.

Re: 3M Bra

Definitely worth every penny. I have it on the evo, and it has saved the hood from a lot of chips already.

I have it on the front bumper, front section of the hood, headlights, and the A pillars.

That should have been a factory option from the dealership. My buddy Derek purchased it from Mazda when he bought his MS6.

Re: 3M Bra

That wouldn't have been included with that "rust prevention" shit was it?

Re: 3M Bra

I'm not sure. I know he paid for the 3m bra, and the interior protection or whatever that is. He had to bring the car back like a week later to have them put on the bra. So I'm sure you could talk to the dealership, and they could do it for you. But there might be cheaper places out there.

Shit, I maight of paid for this already. DOH!

That'd be a good thing though!

DON'T DO IT!!!

We used to sell that crap. It looks good for a while, but as it ages it turns "yellowed" and starts cracking. Look around, there are older cars out there with it already. Look at older sports cars that has it behind the tires to protect the skirts or fender/quarter panels.

Seriously,
DON'T DO IT!!!

That's why you get Venture Shield instead. ;)

Go to Automotive Concepts in New Hope. It comes with a lifetime warranty. You can contact the installer Chris directly 952-484-6537 or call the main number at 763-535-2181. I have it on my Evo (hood, headlights, mirrors) and I'm happy with it.

Im pretty sure the 3M brand doesnt turn yellow or crack?
My buddy's RSX has it on for 2 years now and its perfect.

Re: 3M Bra

Just make sure you get one with the lifetime warranty. Like anything else, advances are made and comparing current shields to what was applied on 80's sports cars from the factory is hardly a fair comparison. Even if they do get shitty after 10+ years, replacing it is still cheaper than having the bumper resprayed twice during that period.

Luther Collision and Glass and Dealership no longer offer the service anymore. I'm going to head to Automotive Concepts some night after work and check them out.

There is a guy that does tinting and the clear bra down in Owatonna and I think he travels too. I think Craig actually had his windows tinted through him. He goes by the name darkdan on TCS and some other forums.

He is priced well and does quality work with warranties on everything he does.

We have a girl that does that for us at Raymond. She's good as hell to, never any bubbles. She just has a big roll of the 3M stuff and she just cuts to size. Id have to say it looks better on lighter color cars, rather then dark colors. If anyones interested, I can get her number for you. Im sure she travels all around to different shops.
