How WoW ruins lives
Here is a blog of a guy who used to be more hardcore about World of Warcraft than I ever was. Thankfully, I'm proud to say I barely even play 1-2 hours a week now when I was playing 5-7 hours a day 7 days a week, even all day on weekends sometime.
The biggest part of the addiction is the game doesn't end, you can not win it. Just when all of the people who are very far in the game think the end is in sight Blizzard will add new content to keep them going. http://soulkerfuffle.blogspot.com/20...-from-top.html |
Re: How WoW ruins lives
That's some crazy shit. Even reading some of the comments from others, just insane.
I think gaming is a true addiction to some, like gambling & drinking may be to others. |
Re: How WoW ruins lives
Ill stick with drinking ;)

Re: How WoW ruins lives
I remember Halo 2, i use to play it for hours and hours, i'd get home from work at 8pm and play till 3am. My gf was always super pissed at me because all i would do is play halo, then i bought a DSM and canceled my Xbox live account.
I do play wow now that it is colder out, but only at night when there is nothing else to do, i kind of moderate it so i don't get really addicted and so i don't cut hanging with out other people short for the game. |
Re: How WoW ruins lives
I was playing very often for over a year. I decided to quit in april. The first month sucked. i wanted to play so bad but i knew i had to focus on my life more. then after the first 3 months i thought i had completly gotten over it, then i logged into myspace and saw an ad for it and was really tempted to play but then i had forgot that i gave my cds away to install the game, so here i sit 7 months with no WoW. I am not looking back. its WAY too addicting and i would like to actually live my life instead of a characters life on a screen....
Although i was fun chasing noobs down and one shotting peoples. :) |
Re: How WoW ruins lives

Re: How WoW ruins lives
I'm glad I stopped playing it. Last Spring semester I spent more time on WoW than I actually did with school and homework, so my GPA went downhill for that semester but I got a lvl 60 priest in about 2 1/2 - 3 months (I started slowing down after lvl 45. The thing that ended if for me was that my after all that hard work and time wasted, my brother sold all my stuff (armor/weapons/items) and closed the account I was using and gave all the money to his other accounr because he couldnt afford 2 accounts anymore. I was pissed! and still am a little, because now he wants to get that account back. Now for me, I say "screw that game!"

Re: How WoW ruins lives
Only game i ever got too adicted to, or games, is Starcraft back in the day and Earth and Beyond for it's short life.
Seen what it does to people, know of one guy that destroyed his life, a mairage and a kid over Earth and beyond actually. Really sad. |
Re: How WoW ruins lives
My oldest brother whom I live right is playing WoW on the comp behind me. Him and his wife get into so much arguments over this. It's kinda sad, especially when his kids are always yelling and crying (they're 7 and 4 yrs old) around the house.

Re: How WoW ruins lives
I know a guy who moved to georgia to marry a girl he met on WOW. She's pretty ugly. The type that would play wow and get married to a dude from WOW. Maybe you get what I'm saying. :O

Re: How WoW ruins lives
heh i will just copy/paste it here from my post in MNSC...
I.... am embarassed.. (sp) lvl 60 warlock, played 110 days thats 2640 hours siting infront of the computer lvl 60 priest, played 28 days... 672 hours lvl 60 warrior, played 18 days 432 hours lvl 45 mage played 5 days 120 hours lvl 40 hunter plaed 4 days 96 hours few other characters totaling of at least 200 hours.. thats total of 4160 hours that is exactly 2 years of full time work... i am an addict.. and ashamed... I have put back 2 of my business behind and not made any progress due to the game, i am selling one of teh businesses because of the lack of progress it made and expenses. Second business has racked up late fees for bills and repairs etc etc, i have the money just never found time to actually pay them, didn't have time to go read the water meter to send in to get the bill straightened out. ALL BECAUSE OF THE GAME..... its ben 3 weeks, i stoped playing on the 9/27/06 (when i got my first son), in the mean time i took care of all the late bills/payments/licenses etc etc.. some damage has ben done that can't be taken off the record but its straightened out now.. or almost.. GET OUT IF YOU CAN ANY WAY POSSIBLE... How stupid was i, and still am because i still want to go to the computer and sit down and play the game.. because i want to beat some of the bossess in the game, because i want to get some of the items.. but i will be stronger and won't play WOW!!! -E |
Re: How WoW ruins lives
i still want to play.. but like few hours/week but that is the thing, you can't just do that, its the life of being in the guild, you have to make to at least 3 or 4 raids in order to be able to go to the places where you can get the gear to play..
shit there i go thinking about it again.. fawk... |

Re: How WoW ruins lives
yeah, i know:(
the reason why i have a lot of played time is because i was a gulid leader for a long long time.. we had over 500 people and 3 full raiding teams that was doing end game stuff. i spent hours and hours learning new encounters and a lot of server firsts went to our guild, and right now they are still working on finishing Naxx bosses. all other instances BWl, AQ and majority of Naxx is on farm status. I could probably sell the account but there is always that chance that i have time to play again, i want to try the expansion when it comes out, but i don't want to level up to 60 again so thats one of the reasons i dont' want to sell the acount, i could probably get $1400 easily for it due to having naxx/aq/ geared priest/warlock/warrior. but yeah.. bad bad bad bad bad bad bad |
