Rebuild LSD? Bushing replaced?
Hey guys, I just got my '96 AWD Talon out for the winter, and I have a couple rookie questions. DB Performance recently rebuilt the LSD in my Cobra, and it made a hell of a difference. Can/should the DSM center/rear LSD be rebuilt like that?
I was also thinking of replacing the orginal struts with something affordable (stock ride height). Are there any bushings or other little parts in the steering/suspension that can/should be replaced affordably? Thanks for any advice you can give me. Travis |
Re: Rebuild LSD? Bushing replaced?
I don't know about your rear LSD, some some KYB GR-2 shocks will be exactly what you're looking for. If you're just going for a better feeling car, I also recomend front/rear strut tower braces and some metal shifter bushings (shifter base and tranny levers).

Re: Rebuild LSD? Bushing replaced?
I have tokico illumina's in my car, it's lowered but it rides awesome!

Re: Rebuild LSD? Bushing replaced?
I'm sure I'd like the lowered look, but I just Bilsteins and some Ford Racing springs on my Cobra, and now it makes the stock talon feel like a frickin luxury cruiser. I'm not sure I want to risk giving that up! (especially since it's winter only, and I might want to take on some snow drifts)

Re: Rebuild LSD? Bushing replaced?
You could try Tokico's non-adjustable shocks too.

Re: Rebuild LSD? Bushing replaced?
Okay, but still: Should I worry about rebuilding my LSD?
Are there any affordable and/or easy-to-replace bushings to tighten things up? This suspension is crazy compared to my other car! |

Re: Rebuild LSD? Bushing replaced?
Just a wild guess, but ill bet your Cobra has a cluch type LSD, they where out and need to be rebuilt over time.
DSM's have a Viscus Coupling unit, they eather work or they dont and afaik they cannot be rebuilt BTW a Viscus LSD can tend to feel like a worn out clutch type lsd, because they suck |

Re: Rebuild LSD? Bushing replaced?
while your at it, you shoud upgrade to polyurethane sway bar bushings, I think both Energy Suspention and Prothane make them.
You must make sure all surfaces that contact the bushing are very clean and thoughly lubricated or else they may squeek |
