Just parked the evo next to a gt500
And the guy was a total fool. He had just picked the car up this morning, and was convinced it was the fastest thing on the planet. I asked him if he wanted to race and he was sure I didn't have a chance. I was pretty sure he'd walk me, but now I'm looking at the specs on these things, and it looks like my evo should give one of these a run for it's money in its current form.
Of course, I had 4 people in the car, all with fresh cups of hot coffee so I didn't get a chance to see any real world action....:( Maybe next time! |
Re: Just parked the evo next to a gt500
You probably take him even if only for the sole fact his tires wouldn't be able to hook in these temps.

GT500? Ford GT? I am not sure what car you are talking about.
Mustang GT500? |

Ford Mustang GT500

Re: Just parked the evo next to a gt500
I'd bet on your Evo if you raced. Car and Driver claims a 1/4 of 12.9. Not very impressive for something with 450hp.
Here's a tip to automakers. Instead of continuing to add 100's of hp to cars, how about you drop 500-800 lbs of weight. Anybody notice the ridiculous number of 400+ hp cars that aren't any faster then 300hp cars from the early 90's? (Ford GT and the new Z06 are two obvious exceptions to that list) But I'm guessing those big HP numbers attract a lot of idiot car buyers (probably like the owner of this particular car). |
Re: Just parked the evo next to a gt500
Car and Driver test drivers are also editors and they aren't the best drivers out there. The test results should not be taken as fact. I'm sure they did all kinds of crazy burnouts when launching or at least granny shifted and didn't double clutch like they should. Lets just say they don't live their lives a 1/4 mile at a time.

i think most of the magazines got around 113mph traps out of them, so they are making some power being 4000lb boats.

Re: Just parked the evo next to a gt500
Wow, no doubt. Curb weight is 3920 lbs!
Curb weight of my evo8 is about...3200 lbs? |

Re: Just parked the evo next to a gt500
On a side note, a stock c6 zo6 just went 11.2 @ 127.
That's not too shabby when you can bolt on 100 whp with headers, intake and a cam. 540+ whp. 640whp w/ an agressive cam and porting work. |
Re: Just parked the evo next to a gt500
C6 ZO6 FTW!!
I think the evo, ways a little more than 3200lbs, maybe someone with an EVO or that knows can help? My car weighs 3280 with me in it and there is no reduction done, 1/2 tank, no spare. |
Re: Just parked the evo next to a gt500
An Evo weighs in at about 3250ish pounds.

Re: Just parked the evo next to a gt500
And mine:
-20 lbs mini batter -25 lbs exhaust -15+ lbs ic piping, crap couplers, misc brackets I've removed ;) |

Re: Just parked the evo next to a gt500
I wouldn't have bought shit from them if it would have been crap quality. My only complaint is that they supplied worm-drive clamps instead of t-bolt clamps (my buschur 2g fmic came with t-bolts). But so far, everything is holding up just dandy, 22.5 psi pushes daily.

Re: Just parked the evo next to a gt500
I know their stuff works as proven by 90% (probably an exageration, but lots of people using their stuff) of modded EVO's in this country being outfitted with their products, I just think they could do more in terms of quality considering the price(s) being charged.
When you said "crap couplers" I was just wondering what you meant by that since I too referred to my Bushcur couplers as "crap". I was in no way trying to insult your, or anyone elses, EVO. |

You bastard! Who would insult the all-mighty evo!?!?! ;)
Yea, I was referring to the stock shit. Anyone else seen any GT500's around? I wanna hear/see some kill/killed-by stories! |
