actually, it's the runner. That big diamond thing is the plenum.

Ya the Ausies love to run off of three cylinders. But that is shinny...

Yeah, I love shinny things in my engine compartment.

Check out the A/W IC they made for a GTO. It's sick.

Very sweet. That company puts out some nice stuff.

That's hott. Velocity stacks in the plenum. However, I don't like how they're raised. I would imagine that it's harmful for flow (turbulance before entry). I'd hack the runners a bit and drop them down to the deck.

do you honestly know what you're talking about? have you taken a fluids class?

or are you going off of what you intuition tells you.

To me it looks like any other aftermarket intake :P

What's the point of velocity stacks if they aren't raised?

JET 10-09-2006 02:38 PM

Re: new australian intake manifold for the 4g63

They still work if they are not raised. The difference is actually pretty minimal comparing a velocity stack to flush mounted one. I did a lot of research on the subject when designing my manifold. The biggest concern is the runner length, shape and taper.

Super Bleeder!! 10-09-2006 02:46 PM

Re: new australian intake manifold for the 4g63

so raising the stack inside the manifold allows a longer runner in the finite amount of space available between the head and the firewall. :)

Re: new australian intake manifold for the 4g63

But you don't want anything protruding into the plenum...

Re: new australian intake manifold for the 4g63

I guess AMS fucked up with their VSR intake manifold.
