I'm in the same boat as you. But I claimed 2 most of the year (as I did last year) and will still end up getting around $1000 back between Federal & State.

Enes 01-24-2004 11:08 AM

i tought allan was worth 4 claims all by himself, why are you claiming only 2?

Jana 01-24-2004 11:44 AM

LOL, I wish I could claim him as a dependent....hell he is one :D j/k

Halon 01-24-2004 11:53 AM

being in the military does have its ups, i don't have to pay any MN state taxes!! i only had 12k that was considered taxable thanx to my kuwait trip

Alpine TSi 01-24-2004 10:45 PM

Sweet lord, I though I was getting the short end with 3500 back last year(just enough to pay for that Talon in the garage ;) ). Hopefully this year will be much more with all the moooney I made plus the extra exemption... Yay fast car...

Kracka 01-24-2004 11:31 PM

Anyone know how to deal with the tax earned on US Savings Bonds? Any loop-holes since it was all used to pay tuition?

AJ 01-24-2004 11:41 PM

I am not getting back anything like I was hoping. Fucking governments!

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 01-25-2004 03:51 AM

I should get like 300-400 only cause it sucks not having a job for 4 outta 12 months.

Single, but claim GF as dependent cause she doesn't have a job. The child thing helps a lot too, she gave me a lot of other little bonuses I didn't know about. Alos that little thing about working my ass off all year to make what I make and not claiming any exemptions on my checks so I get it all back at the end of the year instead of an extra 50 bux a week.... I already ran my gross taxable wage(10 k more than last year) through last years turbo tax just to see(I haven't gotten my forms from this damn giant corporation that likes to wait until the 31st) and about 4500 or 5000 coming this year, but I can't be for sure on that. I can be sure I am getting a boot load of car shiet..!! Yay!

Jana 01-26-2004 08:01 PM

So you have a child you can claim & head of household? That does make a difference.

I'm hoping to see if my new CPA this year can help me find some extra deductions.....

Join the military, no taxes. Hey, military life has its advantages. Thats why Im joining.

Halon 01-26-2004 10:29 PM

if you're joining the military only to get outta state taxes, then u better think about it a lil more. It's not all hunky dorey like the recruiters make it sound. I do admit that my recruiter did not lie to me, but he DID leave out a WHOLE hell of a lot. You don't get outta federal taxes. I mean the military definately has its advantages, but its full of disadvantages. Ask around and do some research before u just sign up man.
