Lawnmower Battery

What kind of of small lawnmower battery should I use for my daily driven (not in winter though) AWD DSM? I don't know much about lawnmowers hahaha....

You will more than likely want a group U1 or U1R. I have seen them rated as high as 350col cranking amps which is enough to get our low compression engines started. It has a little different post set up though. They dont have round posts, they have tabs, which can easily be used for our cars. Expect to pay 40-50 for one with that high of CCA's though. I know John Deer makes a battery that is the same size but it has round posts rather than the tabs. They cost a bit more though, similar to a car battery.

Just dont expect to have a huge stereo working when using these batteries, they dont have the reserve capacity.

How long could you expect one to last (in years)?

I ran a Hawker 10.8 lb. for 2 summers and it was still working great. I believe it had 220 cca and never had a problem starting my car spring-fall.

Fleet farm has a 300cca lawnmower battery that works pretty well. I personally have a walmart 275cca one in my car. It works fine. But I don't drive the car in the winter. So that extra 25cca might be worth it if you drive it in the winter.

My fleet farm one lasted me a year, but it was my fault it died. It spent half it's life on my cement floor. So far my new Walmart one has lasted me a year, and is still working fine.

And no you don't have to expect to pay 50 bucks. I think they I paid around 15 bux after core charge for mine. Not bad for the price I'd say, and it tucks away down in there nicely.

I was gonna get the Hawker Odessey PC680 battery ($100 on Ebay), but I really don't want to spend that much money. So I'll check out Fleet Farm and Walmart :)

werd! Just so you know, the poles aren't round, they just are flat with a hole in it. That worked just fine for my negative terminal, but I needed a round one for the possitive, and walmart sells little adapters to make it into a pole.

Walmart has one that works great. I think mine is 325cca. It doesn't have poles, but has tabs. I have had it for 2 years where my Odyssey PC680 only lasted a year.

I just grabbed a small one at Bumper to Bumper. It works far better than the 4-5 Hawker Genesis batteries I used before. Plus it seems to have plenty of reserve. I left my laptop plugged into the ac/dc converter all night and it started fine the next day.

I might have to pick one of those up sometime. I don't usually care much about weight savings, but when it's that easy...
