My mom called me today informing me that I received a letter from the state. I evidently am having my license suspended for 1 year as of January 30th. I expected it to be shut down for a while, but not THAT long. Do any of you know how to get these sentences reduced? It was never mentioned at court, so I wonder if there's any way to lessen the sentence time. 1 year is a damn long time...

there really isn't, unless you go and appeal it in which they have that process in the letter they sent and how you do it.

Check and see if your state has what's called a "hardship" clause in which they basically allow you to buy back the ability to drive due to work or school needs.

Jakey 01-21-2004 09:54 PM

Damn dude, have you talked to an attorney?

LightningGSX 01-21-2004 10:18 PM

Having lost my license 5 times for periods between 30 days and 1 year, I don't think there is much you can do, besides getting a work permit, which I think you can't get until a certain period of time goes by if I remember right. Its been about 4 years since the last time I lost mine, so I don't remember the details, but I had a lawyer and still had no luck getting it back.

SlimStyleDSM 01-21-2004 11:34 PM

ouch, thats rough, i was on probation for a yr to lose mine for the same amount of time, for that year i drove better...well i dunno, than something that drives really legally. that sucks though man! Get one of those lil scooters with rollerblade wheels;)maybe you could mod it up with some streamers outa the handle bars and a horn :) you would be a total pimp on that!

you can go to the MN DMV and request a work permit which will allow you to drive to work and to school.
otherwise request a administrative review and see what they can do.

Good god man that sucks. What are you going to do with the vans now? Keep them or sell them. Sorry about the news, hopefully you can fight it. Update on the laser: Go it about 1/4 way to the shop today and it died. Hopefully things will work out better tommorow when it's warmer.

i have been there done that i recieved a work permit, allowed me to drive for 72 hours a week within certain alloted hours of the day. i had a work permit with home maker duties allowed on it.

home maker duties includes driving to hospital and or any store you want and few various other things.

with home maker duties you can basically drive anywhere you want as long as you have an excuse. i was pulled over at 11:30 at night i was half an hour from my house i could drive until 11:45 i was on my way back from the convention center and i told him i just got done at wal-mart. it was all good, he said get going have a nice night and dont run yellow lights. i said okay bye
