Torque converter recommendations/spec
I must say right off the bat, I don't know transmissions. I understand that for high hp applications, you need a high stall rate. I've looked at what Protorque has to offer (1000 over stock - $425), which is probably what I'm going with. I'm wondering if I need something with a higher stall rate. Please feel free to add in your suggests if you have any. Here are the specs of my ride.

What cams? Where you start to see power is where you need your stall. Ish...

2 minutes on the tuners Automatic section found me a ton of threads.
There are a few good responses in here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/show...ighlight=stall Here is an article mentioned in that thread written by ITP http://www.mirage-performance.com/so...converter.html |
Re: Torque converter recommendations/spec
If you plan on making any notable power you are going to want to upgrade a few things. You are going to want to get an Alto (sp?) end clutch kit, a translab shift kit, and a torque converter. You can have your torque convertet taylored for your application. You can tell most companies what you want the stall to be set at and they will set it there. It really depends on your setup and goals for the car.
If you are going to drag it then you want the stall high enough so you can brake torque it and build some boost and RPMs at the line without overpowering your brakes. If also helps on the street to get your RPMs in a range where your turbo can be effective if that is the power adder you are using. |
