Head Gasket Material Removal??
Does anyone know of the best and safest way to remove all of the lead like substance off of a head that has just been taken off? Also does it have to be completely removed and shiny or just almost all of it so that the surfaces are flat to the touch? Also I ordered a wiseco multi layer head gasket and is there anything i should know when putting it on?? Thanks for the help in advance.

Re: Head Gasket Material Removal??
razor blade usually does the trick for me. make sure to try and get as little material to fall into the oil/water passages as possible. not too hard, just take your time

Re: Head Gasket Material Removal??
Use a razer blade, a gasket scraper, and/or a 'wizzy wheel'
Get it as cleaned up as you can. Just remember it's your car, you want to half ass it, or make sure it's 100%? |
Re: Head Gasket Material Removal??
If you scrape all of it off that you can, can it still look like there is shit on there but it seems to be just stained in a sence. I scraped all of it that i can tell and it is perfectly smooth. Also anything special that i should do with the new layer gasket? copper spray or anything??

Re: Head Gasket Material Removal??
Razor blade then a scotch brite pad. Be careful with the head if you are doing that too, use a plastic putty knife, then carefully the scotch brite.
