Loud pop??
Today I was driving into work and I had the clutch pedal pressed down and I was coasting at about 10 mph so I put it into second gear and as soon as I engage I hear the most ungodly loud popping sound. So then I move up a couple feet and I hear another pop, but it wasn't as loud. The car seems to be shifting fine and the clutch seems to be engaging/disengaging normally. Don't see any fluids spewing/dripping from anywhere. Could that have been my transfer case/driveshaft poping? Car is a 97 gsx with 109,XXX miles, ACT 2600 clutch and shep rebuilt trans. Any idea on what this could have been? I hope nothing broke :(

Re: Loud pop??
If it's not effecting your driveline, why exactly do you assume it's driveline related? Are you 100% sure it wasn't a back fire or something ?

Crankwalk? haha jk.
Hmm thats a hard one to diagnose. Check the fluid in both the tranny and transfer case just to be sure. Maybe your throw out bearing is making noise? Yea could it have been a backfire or does it keep happening? |
