I have seen that and other designs, they all improve on one of the "normal" piston engine short-comings. With a crank shaft and rod the piston is always being wedged in the bore. But these engines make the piston go straight up and down there for a lot less friction and more power, Great stuff.

It's a rotary piston engine...we came up with this at perkins years ago. What's the big deal?
