Ok well I like to work with my hands and I know how to make a mount to fit a 1G BOV on to a 2G. Do you think it would be worth my time to try to make several and sell them. Do you think anyone would be intrested in buying one? It would take a couple hours plus probably 5 bucks to get some welding done. I think it would be a fun little hobby but I don't know if anyone would want one and if it would be worth it.

I bet you could sell them and make a little money Stuart. Between the Trader, Ebay, and here you should be able to move a few.

Plus these same adapters are used by the 3/S guys to mount the 1g DSM BOV to a Twin Turbo 3/S.

cool I think I might give it a try... I'll probably start up this summer when I have more time so I'll tell you how it goes.
Thanks, Stuart |
92tsiawd84 was going to do the same thing. He has already gotten some parts to do it.

I have tons and tons of these if you guys want to buy them instead, 1G and Greddy Type S BOV's. Or if you wanna make your own i have the flanges as well.

I don't exactly want to make them for myself. I would like to make them to be able to sell (not as much for a profit but more of a hobbie). I already no how to make them and all the parts I need. It sounded like you might have some bov's for sale and I was wondering if you would have any busted 1G BOV's cause I would need one to make a template...
The hole point of the project is for more of a hobbie than to make a profit. It is more of a side benifit and to make it worth my time. I know others are out there but I would just like to makes some and hopefully sell them at a lower price that everyone else. |
You guys have to remember also that Stuart is not in the upper Midwest like the majority of us. With the connections he has through his brother and also being active on other boards in the SE, I believe that this would make an excellent hobby.

Why don't you just buy some flanges instead of making them? 92tsiawd84 doesn't plan on mass producing them at all. Just planned on making one for me and remy. Now he may make ic pipes instead. He got some flanges for $5 each. IMO I would rather pay the $5 instead of making one. If you insisted on making them, you could buy one as a template.

Read my post. It would be cheaper for him to buy a template (1g flange) than a "bad" bov. I said nothing about making money. Just trying to save him a few bucks.

I doubt I would end up buying a 1G bov. If I did it would be just as much a paper weight or cool desk ornament as a template.
btw the gaskets arn't hard to make at all with an exacto sp? knife and a hammer... lol yes a hammer. btw this is exactly what I am talking about. |
What gauge is that metal? 20? You can cut it with a exacto knife? We just bought a few flanges from Brent Rau. They are 3/8 inch thick.
|
Which part the pipe or the plate it is welded to. Well I know the plate took some time to get dremeled out and I know that there is no way in hell to cut that metal with an exacto knife. Well I know that it works cause my brother ran a 13.3 with in useing a t-25 and stock UIC pipeing to break the t-25 record I believe. So what exactly are you talking cutting with an exacto knife?
If you are talking about theplate 3/8 inch seems like overkill. I mean that is almost half an inch think! |
