steering wheel shakes while driving.

I can't understand why my stearing wheel shakes. I notice it the most while driving down the highway. Any ideas?

If it gets worse when you brake, your rotors are warped.

If it gets worse the faster you go, you need to get your wheels balanced.

You may want to check the tie rods for any slop as well.

More than likely its your wheels needing to be balanced, do that first and go from there.

CV joints could be shot.

I'll check and see if it gets worse when I go faster. I hope thats the prob. Maybe I hit something and bent a rim.

Thanks guys.

I am almost sure it is tie rod ends. DSM's chew them up pretty fast. Ball joints are also possible. Jack the car up and jiggle the wheel top to bottom, if it moves it is the ball joints. Now do the same side to side, if it has play, it is tie rod ends. If it does both, then it may also be a wheel bearing.

I'll check the tierod ends tomorow. I did notice that the faster I go, the worse the shaking is.

ALso, I just had goodyear put on 2 new wheels on the front. I assumed they balanced them properly.

I've had the same thing happen to me and it ended up being a passenger side lower control arm ball joint.
