Window Tinting
 

I'm looking to tint my black 01 Grand Am GT (4dr).

Where is a good place to get windows tinted around the area?

What is legal? ... (aka) What can I get away with?

Approx cost?

That stuff Craig has is a new 3M metallic tint, it is 35% and illegal...but damn it looks nice. Legal is 50%. Peter and I are getting our cars done later this week by a recomended guy, prices seem very reasonable. Once my car is done I will post up the info (if Peter and I are happy with the job).

I have gotten pulled over for it and they usually dont let you by that easy. I didnt get a ticket but i herd that it is not cheap. I took mine off because it draws attention and just isnt worht it. Looks sweet though.

It is 50 all around for cars. I went to sun control on rice st and I think it cost like 240 for my DSM..They did a super nice job and it is life time warranty.

i usually go to street scenes by northtown, i think it was $180 for my DSM lifetime warranty and all that.

I did my prelude at Street scenes tint in spring lake park. It was just under $200. Looked great, had lifetime warranty.

I did my quest at Midwest Auto Salon in AV. The work seemed slightly less impressive, but not by much. Also had a warranty...can't remember if it was 2-3 year or lifetime. It cost me $200.

I did both cars at 20%. Cops haven't bugged me ever, but I bet they will/would have in due time. If I were you, I'd stay between 20%-35%.

I've had 35% for 7 years or so. I've never been pulled over because of it nor have I recieved a ticket for it. I got it done a solar shield in savage. I don't recommend them however. They had to redo my tint twice because there was dirt between the glass and the film.

I've been told numerous times to get something in the area of 35% and you'll have a great chance of never being bothered by the cops.

i have 15% on my car, if you ask me its a bit too dark...

I had it done in hopkins, i had 5 of my cars so far done there, first one being done in 96 10 years later it is still same dark black color and it hasn't pealed or bubled. they did an awesome job all around on every one of my cars.

I have 17% on my Grand Prix. Its really dark and sucks for backing up at night. Ive gotten pulled over a good 10 times for it and got 3 tickets. Price of each ticket was $125.
People I know have 35%, good darkness and the cops dont really pull over for it.

I have 20% on my Galant, and have been pulled over twice last summer, and not once this summer. I agree with everyone saying go with 35% or higher.
