Lagging issues
I'm having some annoying lagging issues and also a mushy clutch pedal that lasts for the first 10 minutes that I drive. I have changed everything humanly possible that I can think of: Clutch master and slave cylinders, SS clutch line, transmission was rebuilt 8,000 miles ago and new clutch was put in 20,000 miles ago. The lagging is not consistent; some days it's there some days it's not. I can't figure out if the clutch is slipping or if there's a boost leak. Right before spool up there will be an obvious lag/bog and then the turbo starts spooling. The car is a 97 GSX with 108,XXX miles. Mods are: Shep stage 1 rebuilt trans, ACT 2600 clutch w/resurfaced flywheel, mbc, catback exhaust, bov, intake, hahn sidemount ic upgrade, and ic hardpipes. Any advice/input greatly appreciated.

Re: Lagging issues
7 bolt? You may laugh at me, but check for crankwalk. I had tons of clutch issues, and my car was walked bad.

The problems could be seperate. What does your fuel system look like? Have you logged anything?

Was your clutch hydraulic system properly bled and adjusted? As for your lag issue, check for exhaust leaks before the turbo. |

Just measure the play on the crank pulley to see about crank walk. You will need a depth mic, dial indicator or a caliper to take the measurement. Pull the pulley out, take a measurement, then push it in and take a measurement. The difference is the amount of thrust bearing play that you have. |

JET's right. I guess I like doing things the hard way. Do the rpm's drop when the cluth is depressed? Do you here a ticking when you depress the clutch and hold it to the flood? Have you ever had a problem with the clutch pedal sticking to the floor when you make a left hand turn (the pedal will stop a few inches short)? |

Sorry, double post.

I have lifter tick but that's there no matter what. Pedal never stuck to the floor on a left hand turn. |

Over .010" is out of spec. Over .025" and you had better call Houston, because you have a problem.
