1g AWD left front axel Q.
 

I am pretty sure that the bearing on the second half of my axel that goes to my tranny is fried and I don't know how to go about replacing it. Is the bracket that is bolted to your block have that bearing pressed in and can only be replaced with the entire axel or is anything salvageable? What the known ideal problem is with having the a/c bracket removed and washers put in place to make up for the gap, for some reason the bolt patterns did not match and one side or the other is not able to be socked down all the way which in turn ruined the bearing. If anyone has any alternative ways of fixing this or would rather have me just throw the a/c bracket without the actual unit if possible let me know. If anyone has any other questions to ask I would be more than happy to tell what I know.

Do you have one problem with axel bearing? Or are you talking about more then one problem?

Anyways, if it is was the hub bearing. I would replace both the bearing rather then one. It is better safe then sorry. If you want the machine shop to press new bearing for you. You will need to take off the entire wheel hub and assembly.

The carrier bearing? you replace the whole assembly i believe, it shouldn't be very expensive call up bumper to bumper at the warehouse, there's a good chance that they will have a remanufactured one and there pretty cheap, just make sure to return your core. About the bracket, grab a phone book and start dialing junkyards, unless someone on here has one, post a wanted in the classifieds.

If you buy a rebuilt axle, it's only the outer part, you have to use your inner axle and the carrier bearing. I've never had to replace the carrier. If I remember right, it's pressed into the housing.

Yea now that I remember the name it is the carrier bearing. So what would your guys' best gusses as to what I should do? I am about 99% sure that the axles are just fine and that the bearing is toast. So do you think that should try looking for a new one off someone parting a 1g or should I try to get a new bearing pressed in?

Take it apart and have a bearing pressed in.
