this is the ecu from my 92 tsi. i cant get the cover off all the way because of one :censored: screw. i tried for a half hour and there is not much left of the screw. so i just lifted the edge of the cover enought to get a pic.

Yes, the large chip right in front ther labled E931 is it.

For future reference and the archives if they're ever used. On 1G ECU's, the small "E" in the lower right corner of the white sticker on the outside of the case signifies it's an Eprom. I believe the 95 ECU's have the same marking as well. Also, all GVR-4's have an Eprom ECU.

Use a vice grip to get the screw cracked loose.

dsmlink.com says that all with an E are eprom.

To the best of my knowledge only 2G's can be relied on to have the "E" for Eprom.

thats the cap that leaked on mine....burnt all sorts of things yet it still runs, just fuel cuts at about 4500rpm hmm party :bounce:
