For future reference and the archives if they're ever used. On 1G ECU's, the small "E" in the lower right corner of the white sticker on the outside of the case signifies it's an Eprom. I believe the 95 ECU's have the same marking as well. Also, all GVR-4's have an Eprom ECU.

Use a vice grip to get the screw cracked loose.

Not all 1G's with an E in the right corner mean EPROM. Both of my 90's had an E in the corner and neither were EPROM.

Andy were you ever able to get ahold of a '90 EPROM?

Nash 01-14-2004 08:52 PM

It's kind of a long story that's not yet complete. As soon as it is complete I'll post it up.

Hmmm, strange. Todd Day himself gave me that tip, it's been true on every one I've had.

dsmlink.com says that all with an E are eprom.

CVD 01-14-2004 11:03 PM

To the best of my knowledge only 2G's can be relied on to have the "E" for Eprom.
