Comments: -gas prices are not going to go down (signifigantly) any time soon -banning motorsports would be teh ghey -nice fucking hat (nevermind, this was in one of the rotating banner ads) |
Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
hrm, on second thought, I hate NASCAR anyways.
How about this: BAN NASCAR and F1 FOR EVERYONE! F1 cars have smaller engines, so they use less fuel, right? |
Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
how about people stop driving to work. Ride your bike. It would be better for you physically, you'll live longer, enjoy the weather this summer, and you can still race and have fun on the weekends.

Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
Or you could buy one of these. Everyone of you should have these by now, considering the technology has been around for centuries. It makes me wonder...

Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
I'd be for this 100% NASCAR is the worst form of racing there is. It's not about driver skill. It's about luck, who gets fucked and who fucks who on the track!

http://www.austinev.org/evalbum/035.html I just found this, 30 miles to a charge and a 13 sec quarter mile. Wait, thats a full second faster than my friends stock dsm that gets 15 miles to the gallon of premium gas. So i charge it up at my home(.50 of electricity?) drive to work and dont even plug it in, drive home and charge it up at night. I want one so bad. Has anyone electric'd a dsm before? Sorry that electric datsun's records are 12.1 in teh quarter mile and 3.5 to 60. anybody want to go for a sunday drive? |

Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
My car is parked in the garage for now because I cant afford to drive the DSM. Im trying to look for a new job close to home so I can ride my bike too. I hate nascar, they could do away with it.
Plus what about cops that has been on my mind. They drive around in their crown vic all day and waste a TON of gas just to pull people over for something dumb. Like no front plate(well at least up here in the burbs they ant got nothing else to do). And about most hybrid cars. They get like what 40-50MPG and a civic gets like 35. Not much of a difference. Plus they cost more to buy and what happens when the big battery goes out? they cost upwards of $10,000. So how is that saving you money? |
Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
Isnt maintenance on Electric cars a lot more than on a normal gas car? You're saving money at first, then spending a ton in the long run to keep saving money...so that doesnt work too well. If we all drove motorcycles we'd all be happy :D. We wont have to worry about cars running into us, we'd save gas and have fun :D. Though shopping will be a pain..haha.

Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
Hahah, I don't know if I should laugh or cry. The guy mentions motorsports but singles out NASCAR, and all of you fools jump on the bandwagon. Good show...

There's also busses, carpooling, hybrid vehicles... theres tons of ways to curb this problem and not curb peoples free will to have fun. However I dont think anyone considers their commute in rush hour fun. ALthough I don't like nascar either. |
Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
Shit, if it means le$$ at the pump, they could ban all forms of motorsports including drag racing. While they're at it, they could ban all sporting events. That consumes gas too because of all the spectators that drive to them.

Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
I don't think anyone would want to ride a bike 60 miles everyday. Work makes you tired out enough without having to ride 2-2.5 hours home afterwards. I live 30 miles from work and I am in reasonable shape. I would not want to bike to work everyday. I used to do that overseas but it was only 11 miles to work. But it was up and down a lot of hills.
Get a motorcycle and start enjoying a quick vehicle while getting 40-50mpg. |
Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
it's funny that that person who wrote that article thinks gas prices will go down. there was an article just this morning i think or in newsweek or whatever that said americans have an artificially low price on gas. everywhere else except for the oil rich mid-east countries has 7-8 doller gas. they used to think 3 bucks a gallon would be the threshhold for people to curb their driving habits, but now they say 4-5 or higher. i predict at 7 bucks a gallon, no one will buy SUV's. and we'll really start seeing CRX-style cars more.
anyway, iranians pay like 30 or 40 cents a gallon, lol. |
Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
What an idiot. Where are the stats on the percentage of fuel motorsports uses? Like that would make a dent? How about all the gas pissed away in bumper to bumper traffic? Businesses need to allow more people to telecomute. There's no reason I need to go into the office every day (somedays I don't even talk to anyone in person) but the company I work at doesn't have VPN access available. Ghey.

Re: In the news: Ban motorsports until gas prices drop
How about more types of schedules? Instead of everyone starting at the same damn time, spread some of the start times out. I would start at 9 or 10 no problem. If traffic wasn't stop and go in the morning a TON of gas would be saved.
I rode the bike in today with the g/f, so the 2 of us used 1/4 gallon of gas to get 10 miles into work :D |

Jet has a good idea, people should spread out work schedules, but thats probably not viable int he business world we live in, schedules arent really determined by when everyone WANTS to go in... I dont think anyone wants to go out and drive thru rush hour. But i'm a programmer, there's really no reason why I couldnt work different hours, but my core company hours are 9-3, so i have to be at work those hours. |
