Once the Laser is sold, which I'm hoping is soon--I have my next vehicle picked out.
A white 1989 Dodge Caravan 2.5 Turbo! A step down from the Laser, but I gotta pay off debts. I can't wait to see the look on the Honda owners' faces when I inch past them... should definitely be good times. What are everyone elses thoughts? Better bang for the buck under $1k? If you haven't seen it, the van tuners have their own site: www.turbominivan.com |
ya, i seen that video on there where the minivan runs a 12 or sumthin, he smokes a camaro
I'm doing my best to make your dream come true buddy. I wanted one of those at a point in time last year. I just couldn't find any for under $2000. Good luck. Just get a decent IC and some injectors and boost it up. Noah

Are those vans very easy to find? I don't believe I have ever seen one in person.
Turbo Vans rule!
A guy I know in Princeton gave one away last summer. It was in pretty rough shape but ran. They are cool in a backwoods deliverance sort of way. I liked that it was a 5 speed at least.
I don't think the seller realizes the demand out there for this vehicle. Otherwise I'm sure it'd be quite a bit more expensive. I'm looking forward to seeing how big-a-balls it really has.

someone at school hacd one and was complaining about not being able to find performance parts. He must have not looked hard enough though.
Yeah, TurboVan guy lives up by us. I see him in the mornings once and a while and just chuckle. If people one knew how fast those where...lol
Ugh dane, those are the same motors as the conquest, which means 14B power. and a shitty fuel system. sucka
What was that, Mr slow 240? It'll be faster than your Nissan by February. So take it in the ass. :razz2:
are you sure they were the same engine? casue it's a 2.6 in the starquest, and the same motor in the minivan's i thought was non turbo carbed. what i would do is get a starquest engine, transplant it in a N/A van version, and just hook up the starquest ecu, you could have tons of power easy.
So have you already found one for sale?
Found one for sale, and told the guy I intend to buy by the end of next week. (Which will almost definitely happen)
And the Turbo van's are 2.5 turbo, so I don't know that it is a Starquest motor. It does use a mitsu turbo, however. |
Okay guys, I made it back. And now I have 2 turbo vans. God was last night an adventure...
I bought the first one up in St Bonifacius (near Chaska) and brought that home. Had an ignition problem for a few minutes with it, so I thought I'd go down to Austin and test drive one they had at a dealership. Stupidly I drove the van down instead of my bro's honda (he was with me). End up buying that one, and intended to return the original, but then the dealership's one died on me on the way back (alternator) So we go BACK to Austin, stay at a shitty motel, have more problems with the left over van, and go back to the dealership in the morning. They gave me half my money back and a new battery to make it home on that one. So now I'm back in town with two half-working vans. I think I'm going to use one as a parts van in case something goes on the one I'm driving. Otherwise, I might fix them both up and sell one. So if you know anyone looking for one, let me know. I may be willing to part with one. Yay for turbos... |
lol, glad you made it back. :)
Everyone...... its a minivan. :headache:
Tom, that will still probly beat your car. We should setup a race now. I would like to see another 2g get owned.
all TrboVan did to get his to run a 14.8 was unplug the pressure signal line on the wastegate.
