PII running Windows 98 or newer should work fine.

Re: laptop question with DSMlink

You will most definately need a 95 eprom ECU, they are getting harder and harder to come by however...

Re: laptop question with DSMlink

what if i purchase an engine I suppose that will not come with it

Re: laptop question with DSMlink

I have never heard of buying an engine and having the ecu come with it but I guess anything is possible.

Look here for an EPROM. It comes already socketed and is tested good. You could buy off ebay and maybe find a deal but you also may get a bunk ecu. If you buy a socketed ECU you can just buy the DSMlink and install the chip yourself instead of being without an ECU for a while when it is getting socketed.

http://www.ffwdconnection.com/electronix.shtml It is about 3/4 down the page. I wish 1g EPROMs were that cheap, I would have my DSMlink already.

What kind of $$$$ would be a "nice deal?"

Re: laptop question with DSMlink

If you can find one under $200 I would jump on it...

Re: laptop question with DSMlink

I think $250 already socketed and guaranteed to work is a hell of a deal.

Re: laptop question with DSMlink

I have one for $250 that is socketed and ready. I have dsmlink and used it so I could use dsmlink on all 3 of our dsm's. I sold one and put a noneprom back in it. It is ready to go. All you need is dsmlink. I put the stock chip back in it so all you would need to do is order up dsmlink and put the chip provided in it.

It worked perfectly and I used this one to tune my old daily driver.

I meant what would you be willing to pay for an ECU. What defines a "good deal" to you?

Jakey is trying to say he has a 2g eprom not socketed he might be willing to sell.

Oh, sorry didn't catch onto that. As of right now, I'm dead broke. But, I'll shoot you a pm when I get the money and see if you still have it. I'd be looking to pay $250 like I said, just not now.
