Need Help; Custom IC Piping

Ok, so I went off and bought me a front mount ic and piping. Im doing all the pipes myself here.

This is for a 94 TSi AWD.
Intercooler measures 27x5x3.

This is how it is sitting right now.

Now the piping that is coming from the turbo to the intercooler is what I am having problems with.
This is the picture:

I made a red circle to the part where I have to cut , but there is something that is mounted in to that peice. Will it still be safe if I cut a hole through there? And I was also wondering how you guys did your IC pipes. Any help would be appreciated, I need this thing up and running!

You normally don't use that style of core on a 1G DSM because of that exact reason.

Get 2 90* couplers and go straight back next to the radiator on each side, this isn't a 2G ;)

Yea I had that style core, but bigger on my old car, didnt like the long route piping but I did it, would never do it again though, sell it on ebay and buy a nicer core that points the piping toward the rear of the car on the sides of the radiator, or use couplers like kracka said.

Pre-made ones are worth the money.

I agree 100%, most the time the premade complete kits end up costing less and being of nicer quality.

I made my entire kit with end tanks pointing to the sides like yours. I'd like to find a new way to run that side because it does hang fairly low. I enjoyed making my own kit, and it's nice to say that I made it and welded it all, but.... next time I will just buy the damn kit!
