I need someone to help me put a t-belt on
I just need someone to put the new t-belt and BS belt on a motor in a 1g. All of the other stuff is off already. I don't want to do an in car bs eliminator or pull the motor so I am keeping the bs belt for now. I have never done a bs belt before and don't trust myself on doing the tension for either one. I have new belts and new tensioners for both. Friday would be the best time for me between 7am and 5pm. I will pay someone $50 to do it. All that needs to be done is:
-Old BS belt taken off -new bs belt put on -new t-belt put on. LMK if anyone is interested. I am located in Hopkins. James |

Just leave the BS belt off... Wont hurt anything. Less of a risk of it coming off and it taking out your timing belt.

I thought about doing that also, but I wasn't sure if there would be problem leaving it off. I guess I need someone just to put the new t-belt back on then.

Gas for trip +50? You two should talk. I've never done one myself on an eclipse, but i did on an old escort of mine. Didn't touch the timing though, so it was just off and on.

You'd want to put the balance shaft belt on since you have the rear one still on. The engine was designed to have both dampen engine harmonics, having just one will throw that off.
I'll do both belts for $100, that's my going rate. School's in session. :D |

Josh... Speed has nothing to do with your motor vibrating, its the balance of the rotational mass.
You could be in 3rd gear doing 60mph at 4500rpms or in 5th gear at 2500rpm and that would make a big difference on how much your motor vibrates but yet you are still traveling the same speed. I've done this on my car, few other peoples cars without any "HORRIBLE vibrations". Its not any worse than if you were to take out the balance shafts completely. Whatever floats your boat. I just dont trust that belt to stay on and not tangle in the timing belt. Thats the only reason I have never put one on my car. Good luck. |
