Shift Bracket Lose
Ok, first few rounds of questions i'll post this, this is not my car i'm working on, but my DSM knowledge is fairly deep.
1992 AWD GSX with LSD and ABS 6/4 combo with a 5 speed. 2.5 turbo back Custom Exauhst with Boost controler. Other then that, stock. The problem i'm having with my buddies car is the bracket in the engine bay keeps coming lose after several attempts to tighten it. Has anyone else come by this problem? And if so, have you found a solution, or does anyone have one? We've tried tightening the bolts down as tight as we can(even after the tranny was off) and they still work their way loose. There's nothing like having to limp home in second gear. I know welding is an option, but i'm not even going to touch on that one. Would throwing in a lock washer help any? Or would that not help at all. |
Re: Shift Bracket Lose
yea a lockwasher is usually a good idea, how about some Blue(medium) loctite as well?

Re: Shift Bracket Lose
I dont' know if the locktite would get through all the oil, trany fluid, and now radiator fluid that's all over the bolt. Oops. :D

Re: Shift Bracket Lose
well loctite works/dries in the absence of air so maybe, i would spay it down with some carbcleaner that would take most of that crap off pretty damn easy and will dry right up

Re: Shift Bracket Lose
Thanks for the advice, i'll give that a shot, remove the bolts and soak them down some.
