PICTURES ADDED!

I made a hike 2 1/2 hours up north tonight to pick up my 9th dsm. Yes you read that correctly. 9 dsms in less than 3 years. ( recap is at the bottom for those of you too lazy to read :P )

I bought taunis old dsm for $350 ( 90 fwd turbo eclipse) and built 1 motor out of the 2 it came with. Make no mistake, this is not the sexy one heh. Then I was informed about this 91 tsi AWD talon that was way up north. I was pretty sketchy about going up there to check it out but after talking to this guy a few times, I decided I should.

For $850 I picked up a 91 talon TSI awd. It has alot of miles ( 18x.xxx) and FUCK NO it doesn't run. HOWEVER - it fit my wants / needs perfectly. The body is the darkish silver, 4 rust spots ( front fenders and a little on the rear quarters) and next to flawless paint. My dad will fix / paint the rusted areas so that is no problem. It snapped a timing belt so the head is trash. The car came with 2.5 turbo back exhaust, very clean 5 spoke alloy 16's with good tires, A/f - boost - and voltage gage I think, MBC, and yes leather interior. Oh yea, tranny shifts mint. Good fight?

By the time I got home, some guy was here looking at the GST. He wants to buy it for Raceways new 4 cylinder stock racing class. Instantly he wanted it. He doesn't know dsms, but I know what needs to be known to make his ideas work. Long story short, he's buying that car I paid 350$ for 850$ WITHOUT the running motor. Yes im giving him all parts he needs to make one work, but remember I got a freshly rebuilt longblock and im selling him the car + left overs for 500 more than I paid.

Now you ask why pay $850 for a car that doesn't run... Basically at the end of the day, I'm paying $350 for the exact car I wanted PLUS a rebuilt longblock with many new parts, all new gaskets, bshaft elim etc etc. Yes I had to buy gaskets and shit, but most of the peices to build the engine came with the GST in the first place.

I will post pictures as soon as I see some sun and when I figure out how to post them on here. I see SEX written all over this car within the summer :P

RECAP :
-Bought 90 eclipse gst $350. came with 2 motors, neither ran and one was dissassembled and had new parts waiting to be installed. I went ahead and rebuilt the motor and it sits on an engine stand waiting to be finished and installed. 1 - 2 hours out from completion

-Bought my ideal DSM for $850, needs a motor ( at least a head). Rebuilt motor goes in this car

-Selling GST for $850 as rolling chassis + my spare parts minus the main engine parts I needed to build one nice OEM rebuilt motor. 500 dollar profit and I kept the parts I needed.

So how do you know if the tranny shift fine if the car does not run?

Well I suppose I don't KNOW but he has reciepts showing the tranny was rebuilt within 15k miles and he had a shop install it and all of that. He was very honest about everything else. Honeslty, the shell itself was worth the 850. The tranny is just a bonus :)

Gee, I guess that makes the running 91 GSX I sold with a big 16G for $950 seem like a real bargain.

wait till you see pics. If you had a running DSM with a 16g and this body - 3k plz. I've already had someone offer 3k if the motor goes in and runs good. That's without touching anything else up :P

Looks good. Kinda like Jets' car minus the rear axle. One of my favorite colors when it comes to 1G DSMs.

agreed.. If the paint wasn't good on my dsm. I would have a paint job done to that color in a heartbeat.

Re: a new sexy dizzum!

Those of you I talk to outside of DSMstyle know alot about what's gone on. But a quick summary for anyone else who might care or be bored...

The silver DSM runs and needs some little repairs ( couple gaskets for the intake area, BLACK RTV oil pan, new wires / plugs etc, basically a tune up) HOWEVER IT RUNS and drives like a champ :)I think I will keep it in the garage for 2 1/2 more weeks so I can fine tune everything and get as much preventative maintenance done as possible. I'll post up some more pictures of it's current condition in the next couple days.

If I end up actually KEEPING this one, my dad is repainting it the same color (mostly) and I'm getting that ghetto tint removed and re-done so it actually looks Black and nice. The underbody has some rust so I'm not sure if I really want to invest into this one.

The blue one never got sold. Guy backed out last second =/ So now it is sitting in a southern minnesota city along with 1/2 my dsm parts LOL. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with it yet. I'm still less than $2,000 into both the eclipse and talon combined. woot :P
