http://www.1-800-espresso.com/capresso-jura-s9.html OMFG $2600 for a coffee machine. good lord. |
Re: we got a new espresso machine at work...
If it could be used as a turbo and espresso machine you would be set.

Re: we got a new espresso machine at work...
I was thinking for $2600 it would be more of a "Full Service" espresso machine with built in Perfect 10 model to serve the coffee. LOL i couldnt believe it when i saw that price. Germans dont mess around when it comes to coffee i guess. LOL

It can make hot chocolate. Just steam the milk and add cocoa.
Tom, I don't know why you're so surprised, that isn't far off of the machines used at Starbucks and Caribou. |

Correct. Starbucks sells the De'Longhi Magnifica Super Automatic machine. We just had our brewing sale, which put it down to $1000. Now it's back up to $1200. It's a fantastic machine and would easily give that machine a run for its money.

Re: we got a new espresso machine at work...
I have worked for sbux for a pretty long time now. Because Starbucks uses only Italian machinery it tends to be a little expensive. When I started we used the La Marzocco machines which were roughly 7000 bux for a 3bar, a little more for a 4bar. In the past year or so Starbucks has been moving toward a "perfectly timed shot" minus the portafilter and human error. The machine that starbucks uses now is the varicimo [sp?] which is well over 10000 a pop! Usually a mid sized starbucks has two of these. So for a restaruant to purchase a 2600 dollar machine is not to bad if they are charging 4 bucks a cup; it will be paid off in no time. Not to say that isnt a hell of a lot of $$$ that could be spent elsewhere.

"Verismo". ;) Our store in Apple Valley still has the La Marzocco. Our district managers have been telling us for over a year that it's going to be replaced soon, but still no Verismo. Our current machine is going down the crapper... it never likes to pull good shots. Tom, if you don't mind doing some of the work yourself, our Barista Espresso machines are a mere $400-450, and are designed directly after the La Marzocco I mentioned above. You can even get espresso pods that are pre-ground, tamped and sealed in a disposable filter to save some mess over grinding and tamping espresso from scratch. |
