Bad BOV?

Okay, I searched, and read, and it leads me to think that I have a bad BOV. Here's my situation.

my MBC won't let me run boost levels below 18psi, so I'm being really careful and trying to hit anything over 12psi (it's a stock motor)....ANYWAY, on to the problem.

No matter what boost level I hit, the BOV will only FLUTTER. It will never let off a solid whoosh, like it's suppose to. Now, keep in mind the MBC problem. On occasions I will accidently hit boost levels over 12psi and let off right away, but even at that, it will still only flutter. I'm sure this has been covered before, but I searched it and couldn't find anything to answer my question still. Thanks much in advanced!

Is this a stock BOV?

lol sorry about that. yes, it's a uncrushed 1g...it almost seems like the intake piping isn't completely full of compressed air, but my boost guage reads 10-18psi, so obviously they are. im just real lost.

Are you sure you don't have a waste gate problem?

Re: Bad BOV?

Sounds like a sticky wastegate actuator to me. If your wastegate is not opening and bleeding off excess exhaust gases it will cause you to run too much boost. Your boost controller would have nothing to do with it at this point unless your boost was set high enough for it not to matter.

hmmm, i think i'll have to test and see if it's sticking. If it is, is there a fix? Or does this mean a new actuator is needed?

It depends if its just rusty or if its totally defective. Check it out and see.
