Should I get rid of it?

I have a 95 Tsi AWD, blown head gasket, cracked head or block, I replaced the turbo with a used stock unit, paid 500 for the car with the junk turbo, and have a total of about 1100 total into it now. It leaks anifreeze into the crank case, and the oil/antifreeze mixture into the # 1 cylinder. The front spoiler is broken, there's a good scrape on the rear bumper, and there is one small place on the right side door that looks like somone opened it up right into a bolt.

I want to start rally racing but I don't know whether to continue and fix up this car, or sell it and buy a running 1g.

Sell it! I'll give you $20 for it. ;)

Seriously though, it depends on how much you want to deal with it, and how much money you want to put in it. The best part about a blown motor on a 2G is getting the 'excuse' to drop in a 6-bolt.

Got any pics to help the decision-making process along here?

Exactly.

Why not just rebuild the engine? It wouldn't cost that much to do it yourself, and just try and fix all the little problems you come across!

it is a 7 bolt so it wouldn't be too good of an idea to rebuild it as you can find 6 bolt blocks for pretty cheap

I'm not sure what I am going to do with it yet. It was beat on pretty hard when it was with the second to last owner, and then someone who knows nothing about cars ran the crap out of it. How much would it cost to do a six bolt swap?

I live on a farm with a huge radiant heated shop, and it has an over head, swing away over head hoist. I have all the tools necessary, minus the torque wrenches that I'd be borrowing from my brother (a John Deere Tech student). In a couple of weeks, this car needs to be stored until after spring planting season. After that I will have about an extra Thousand to be dealing with, not that I want to spend all my money, but my budget is still kind of tight.

$1000 is no where near enough to make a junk DSM into a reliably running DSM. With that budget, you may be best off trying to find a complete running 6-bolt with turbo and dropping that in. Or, just say screw it, get rid of it, and get a decent 1G for $2500.

Well I have 1200 right now, and I don't want to have to worry about anything in the existing long block as it is probably weak, or allready shot.
