dead car

I don't know why, but the car won't even get electricity.

the car has a battery relocation kit installed on it when i got it. I added some switches for fans, fuel pump etc etc. They all worked. Every time we hooked up the battery, the car would beep (HKS turbo timer). But, tonight, that little fuse box that usually attaches to the battery was touching the frame somehow, as it was only wrapped in masking tape (not of my doing). It sparked, and reset the ecu (EMS). after re-wrapping that damn thing, i finally go to start the car, and all power is gone. The switches don't work, and they run straight off the battery, with a fuse. the battery has good power, and the battery fuse up front was zapped, but after replacing that, nothing changed. I can't see any other fuses burnt out, and as far as I can tell, power is still making it's way from the battery. I know that the cut-off switch is fine, as there is power after the switch, but as far as anything else, I don't know. any ideas?

Sorry but everthing sounds confusing in your statement. What is working and what is not working. The car starts right? Is this chers old car?

Re: dead car

no it's not cher's old car. No, it doesn't start. As of right now there is NO POWER going anywhere..the battery is still good, and so is the cut-off switch..I don't know if the front of the car is getting power now or not though..

Re: dead car

The wierd thing is that power doesn't even go directly to the direct-wired items like the gauge illumination. Anyone have ideas? The car was so close to starting...

Did you ohm the ground side of the circuit?

Re: dead car

Do you have a multi meter? Check to make sure the ground is good and make sure you are getting power from the battery to the end of the wire. If not, you know something is wrong with the connection or wire. Either that or your cut off switch is bad or turned off???

Fault trace the next step in the chain. At the alternator, the ECU, the starter.

The ground was bad for the battery magically; it was just too late last night to try and think. Car runs now.
