When I am driving my car and put my foot on the clutch to shift or sit, it starts to rev up to about 2000 and back down. If I stop and let it sit a little while the idle eventually gets back to normal, but when I start driving again, it strats up again when I am in neutral or when my foot is on the clutch. Any ideas? I have a 95 tsi awd. Only mods are full 3" Apexi N1 exhaust, boost guage and K&N filter.

Do you have a check engine light at all?
|
sounds to me that you have the ever so popular idle surge. there's a few things it could be. check out the link for troubleshooting tips

He doesn't have a CEL. I replaced the BISS oring for him today and he hasn't noticed the surge yet. The old one was quite hard. I don't know why he posted this...

yes i have that same exact problem... is it a bad thing to leave it idle like htat?.. will it cause dmg if i wait to fix it till its warmer out>?
|
Still have the problem. Any more ideas? I replaced the o ring on the biss and cleaned out the throttle body and they didn't fix the problem. Tonight coming from work, it was killing when I put my foot on the clutch. I am thinking it is the same problem. Sometimes it is fine, sometimes it will go up and down from 1500-2000 and sometimes it will go from 1000-1500.

Do you have a vented BOV or is it still blowing back into the intake?
|
Have you checked the ISC? I would test that first.

How do you check the isc? It has nothing to do with the bov. Sometimes when it is steady, it just sits too low and kills. Sometimes it idles at around 200-300 rpm and just drops a little.
BTW-John broke the bov, not me. We will be able to fix it as good as before though with JB Weld. That is what was holding it on before. ;) |

It may also be due to the bov. After I cleaned the tb plate, I installed a lower ic pipe, intake pipe, boost controller, and we put on Iceman's bov (venting). The car was absolutely fine the first couple days. Just started up yesterday. We will have to jb weld the factory bov back together and try again. If it doesn't work, check the ISC. You can do this or you can PAY me to do it for you. |
