Engine Screensaver
We have this screensave floating around our office at work. It's pretty cool. It goes through an engine being assembled, and then operating. Kinda cool, thought some of you guys may enjoy it as well. We have the file on a thumbdrive around here, but I searched and found a link that you can download it from. Here is a pretty good breakdown on how to get it to work, since some people are having a hard time getting this to work.
*EDITED* Allan it works now, I tried it, enjoy!!!! First, you are downloading a .RAR file. These files need to be extracted with the program WINRAR, much like a .ZIP file is extracted using WINZIP. But winzip will not extract .RAR files that I can see, so you need to have WINRAR. This can be downloaded for free at the following site. http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar351.exe Now, after you have winrar, do the following exactly. I copied these from another forum, so just do what he says... Took a lot of searching, but found a foreign language forum talking about it and they linked to the file being hosted in Germany. It is 42.5 MB. Here is the link: http://rapidshare.de/files/4430200/motor.rar.html You'll be presented with a table that says premium or free download. Click the free button near the bottom right of the page/table. Then it makes you wait about 30 seconds before presenting you with a final confirmation code (another attempt to get you to pay for their premium d/l service). Stay strong, wait for it, the file you get is motor.rar and it's the real deal. Extract the .rar files to your C:\Windows directory. Then you can use control panel to find the new screen saver in your list of screen savers available. The screen saver will be called "Deutz Engine". I saw this thing for the first time at one of my automotive mfg plants in Mexico last week. It's very, very impressive. Enjoy! |
Re: Engine Screensaver
Heh Heh. That's pretty cool.

Re: Engine Screensaver
I get some error that doesn't allow it to be used as an actual screen save when I move the file to the system32 folder. It says I have to pay for the beast.

Re: Engine Screensaver
*edit* just follow post 1, it works.
|
Re: Engine Screensaver
It didn't work for me. It said the file was invalid or corrupted. Thaaaanks haha joking.

Re: Engine Screensaver
*edit* blah blah, ignore this
|
Re: Engine Screensaver
*edit* works now, post 1
|
Re: Engine Screensaver
Tried that. I get 1 .rar file and that's the main motor file. Nothing to extract from it. So again, it doesn't work me me.
|
Re: Engine Screensaver
Allan it works, you need to extract that one .rar file with WinRar
|
Re: Engine Screensaver
I tried the stuff off post 7, didn't work. No biggy.

Re: Engine Screensaver
You have to download Winrar, and extract the 1 file, it extracts to like 8 files, then you put them into your C:\Windows directory, then when you go to your display settings, go to screen savers, it will be in there as Deutz Engine

Re: Engine Screensaver
I don't get it. Oh well.

Re: Engine Screensaver
Can somebody host the file around here?
|
Re: Engine Screensaver
I have an actual Install File on my computer here, that all you do is click it, and it installs itself if someone can host it. Otherwise, just do exactly like it says and it'll work. But if someone can host this one 40mb install file thing I have, it'd just make it so much easier.

Re: Engine Screensaver
wow this is not hard to install at all.
Download the rar file, then open the rar file with winrar, and there are about 8 files, included one called motor.scr Double click motor.scr and don't touch your mouse. |
Re: Engine Screensaver
duh, I don't have winrar. Only winzip.
|
Re: Engine Screensaver
Winrar is a must!

Download winrar, otherwise no screensaver for you, unless someone hosts it with a different file type. |

I tried to make this as easy as possible, but I suppose it can still get confusing. I have the simple install file for it if there is a way to share it. Then it's as easy as a double click! What'd you guys think of it? I think it's pretty sweet!! |
