Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
It's about time - I am going to get one soon.

Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
So will that be able to shift just like a manual, or is it going to be more like the "manumatic" crap that comes on most cars nowadays?
|
Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
It will still be an auto tranny, but you can control when and how firmly it shifts.
|
Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
looks pretty good
i like how you can have it lockup in 4th |
Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
That is pretty sweet. I want an auto now.
|
Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
You're still going to lose too much, Tom.
The unit actually seems pretty cool--my only concern would be the wireless transmitter not communicating 100% of your actions. |
Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
That plus a 4-5k stall would make for some sweet 1/4 times if you had a decent setup.
|
Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
Yeah, you need a stall converter for launching and a shift kit to make the shifts more firm. After that it should be pretty decent.
|
Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
Supposedly this is able to adjust the line preasure so he'll be able to get firmer/quicker shifts.
|
Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
yeah it has a selector that lets you choose the pressure. its an easy install, the guy said its about the same as installing a safc.
TCUGO $320 Manual Swap including labor > $2500 I think ill try the TCUGO before the manual swap. but come end of febuary ill let you all know how it works out. |
Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
That should be a good solution for the automatic people that want more control.
Most people don't realize how stout the automatic DSM transmissions can be with a few simple upgrades. They are really hit and miss however. If its spent most of its life w/o proper maintence, it will wear out quickly. IPT builds a great trans for them however, which is nice. When you compare the price of a built auto trans with a restalled torque converter to a "shep" tranny and a good flywheel/clutch combo, you come out almost even. Just my $.02. |
Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
Russ Coxe was selling his built auto 2G tranny for $2500. That seems about on par with a proper manual setup.

Re: TCUGO finally on sale...
well currently im in Boston on business. Im waiting for the guy to get the plug and play harnesses. If he doesnt have them by friday im going to tell him to just give me the hard wire kit. So it will be a couple weeks. Also, once i get back to CA on friday i may be going to MN 3 days later for another 2 weeks. Then that will push it back a little while more. But as soon as i get it and test it, you guys will be the first to know.
