Re: 2nd gear grinds need help

If your clyinders are bad then it will definatly help, but if the syncro is worn out then its too late and wont do any good you would need new syncros then.

Re: 2nd gear grinds need help

Yes.. The only thing you will need is a 6 bolt flywheel to allow it to bolt up.

Pensoil Synchromesh can be found at most parts stores. GM also makes a Syncromesh that can obviously be bought at the dealerships but it is quite a bit more expensive.

Re: 2nd gear grinds need help

and is this what u would recommend, shoul i use a 2100 2600 clutch I still have a 7 bolt motor so I dont wanna add to much pressure to the crank

Re: 2nd gear grinds need help

Maybe look into a DXD clutch from south bend that puts less pressure on the crank but has a nice clamp pressure.

That is a lovely clutch!

I had one in my laser AWD and LOVED it.

I'll put a good word in for the southbend dxd as well.

Make sure you bleed your clutch correctly before you go tearing it out, there might just be some air in the system still.

so ecoli MADE A GOOD POINT ABOUT NEW GEARS THAT I MIGHT NEED BUT ISNT THAT COVERED IN THE STAGE 1 SHEP KIT

Re: 2nd gear grinds need help

No, the shep trans that has the new intermediate shaft is around $1600 plus options I believe.
If a car is left here, we take care of shipping it in and out. I perfer not to have to many "waiting for shep" cars within the shop. I already have 2 cars here waiting for transmissions (a 2g for a shep trans, a 1g for a ipt trans). If you want to have us pull the trans and you take the car, that would be awesome. He is about 2 weeks turnaround time currently.
I would recommend a southbend clutch for nearly all applications. I have yet to have one of them let me down, in any situation.
