New DSM to the site...

Hey whats up? My name is Tom, I live in Fargo ND, and I drive a 93 Talon TSi AWD. The car is currently up on jackstands (BIG surprise  )...Because im in the process of having a 6 bolt swap done.

Mods being done before spring:
6 bolt swap with ARP hardware, Mitsu MLS headgasket, Ross racing pistons (8.5:1 compression), Clevite rod and main bearings, ACT 2900 clutch and flywheel, Balance shafts removed, and a basic rebuild (new oil pump, timing belt kit, and gaskets)

Current mods:
3 inch Buschur Racing turbo-back exhaust, Ported EVOIII Big 16g, Ported 2g exhaust manifold, HKS external wastegate (manifold mounted), OG Indy Race-core FMIC, Greddy Type-S BOV, 2g MAS with SLS hard intake pipe, MBC, RC 550cc injectors, SupraTT Fuel pump, S-AFC, and SPI Boost, water temp, and oil pressure gauges...

Last year the car was daily driven at 20psi (on my stock 7 bolt)...until the last track day when my headgasket decided enough was enough....

Best ET was 13.1...so this year I hope to tear into the 12's with the new motor :D

Well thanks for reading...here are a few pics....

Welcome to the forums.
I hope you run a 12 with a 16g :). You'll probably catch some grief on the forums for the 13.1.

Welcome. Your mod list is solid minus the 2900lb clutch. Good luck with that one. If I were you I would re-think the clutch setup.

Because there is no reason for such a heavy preasure plate based on your setup. You are doing nothing but putting additional wear and tear on your engine, pedal assembly, and clutch hydraulic system.

Do you intentionally have your spoiler like that?

The spoiler was like that when I bought the car. Im still in the middle if I like it that way or not...Wouldnt be a big deal to get the other two pieces back on...idk..

The reason I chose that clutch is ill be doing cams and larger turbo later this summer...might as well put the best in there while the motors out...

Still overkill for a clutch.
Why not put on a GT42 sized turbo on there right now, and work your way to supporting mods?
The ACT 2900 is NOT the "best" and is overkill on 99% of the setups I see it on.
Good luck.

Re: New DSM to the site...

With a spoiler like that, your going to need the extra pedal pressure of the 2900. Oh and if you ever drive in traffic, your going to be writing love notes to ACT on how huge the 2900 made your left leg!

Re: New DSM to the site...

Welcome. Hey, your car is a cleaner version of mine (with more mods), especially the front end. Mine has rock chips all over the place, lol. And I have on 2G Talon rims (good deal on them). But it's nice to see another forest green talon around. Wanna trade :D..j/k. And you're getting the ACT 2900, huh? People complain about my 2600 all the time already("holy S**T, wtf is this!", "Damn. Your clutch! Is it supposed to be this hard?"...)haha. You'll eventually get used to it and then it "should" be easy to drive. Personally, I like the 2600 and probably would never get the 2900 :D.

I didnt mention it above, but on my old 7 bolt I did have a 2600 clutch...so I got pretty used to the heavy pedal pressure etc.

Yes, indeed. Your leg is fine but your car hates you. I only had a 2600 and went through a master cylinder, slave cylinder, clutch line, and pedal asembly over a couple years with it.

Re: New DSM to the site...

I had a 2600 too, and I had to replace everything like CVD, and the master cylinder twice. Then I went to a southbend clutch and that was much better.

Welcome.

Re: New DSM to the site...

I agree with these guys. The pussy-ass stock clutch hydraulics do not like a stiff pressure plate.
