There is only two guys on here that owns a colt GT and only one has the 4g63t swap. You might not get much help here. Best bet is to talk to the guys on www.4g61t.com. I know that people have swap in 4g63t into 89 DL but not AWD. You should just pick up a 89 GT and do the swap that way. It is going to cost you some money to do it the other way around. Here is something that is going to help you decide. To do a swap in a 89GT is going to cost you around 2-3k not including the car. Any how if you want a sleeper the 89GT is the a perfect one. If you can find a turbo scoupe that is a sleeper also. Most people have no idea what a 89GT CSM is. Trust me on this. They think it a honda until its to late. Can you tell I love Tegs. Good luck on your search.

I still have one of those AWD's rotting away on a farm. I also had the same idea as you. The engine should swap in pretty easily, but I think you are going to have to use the stock drivetrain. I have no idea how much power that could take. I would definately gut it to keep the weight at a minimum. I doubt it will take much more than 300hp though.

I haven't seen one to compare, but with most car companies, the 4dr sedans and wagons are basically the say layout mechanically. Just the roof line and rear gate are changed to make it a wagon.

Yes an all wheel drive mirage has been done. I think he is refering to the wagon which is different from a two door hatch. Which I have not seen done yet or even herd of swapping in a 4g63t.

They're all pretty much the same thing. The video actually wouldn't load for me... I just assumed it was a wagon. ;) But it shouldn't make a difference.

Well, with those AWD Mirages and such they swapped in DSM drivetrain parts. I dont think a DSM drivetrain is interchangable with the AWD wagons. And I dont think they were made for the kind of abuse that DSM drivelines put up with.

The motor should be fairly easy to do. Every mitsu 4cyl interchanged back then. You just need the right mounts/harness etc.

Re: 4g63t in an AWD wagon ??

I think he should just get a DSM and be done with it. When you have a sleeper people will usually brush you off. If you beat them, they will just tell you they were not really racing because you got rice. When my bro drives his spec v every mother out there wanted to race him. When he drives his Colt no one would look twice at him. Even if he revs on them they just look at him like he is stupid yes this includes hondas with noise makers. When we take out the talon the only people would look our way was v8 the rest would not ever look our way.

Actually the wagon isn't even close to a regular colt. It is a 4 door and it is MUCH bigger than a regular colt. It kinda looks like a minivan. The AWD system is push button too.

The summit is much smaller than the colt. The colt is at least 2' longer. This is a pic of the colt that I found.

Dodge Colt Vista (van) or just Colt (car)= Eagle Summit = Mitsubishi Expo (Van) or Mirage (car)......same thing. The model you are showing is just an earlier model. The one in the vids was 93+.

Kinda like Talon/Eclipse/Laser......ya know?

Re: 4g63t in an AWD wagon ??

That isn't really true. That is like saying a 2 dr blazer and 4 dr blazer are the same. The chassis is the same, but the wheelbase is stretched and the 4 dr is obviously bigger. Things will bolt up the same and most of the mechanicals are the same though. The weight of the bigger one is obviously going to be detrimental and I am guessing the AWD system in the newer ones is different?

Re: 4g63t in an AWD wagon ??

My point was that the Colt Vita (in your picture) is the same as the Expo or the Summit Wagon.....exactly the same sans nameplates.

I never meant to say the Colt hatchback was the same as the Summit 4 dr or Mirage, etc.

And my point is that the Vista pictured is much bigger than the Summit wagon. They also didn't start making the Expo until 92, but that would have been the same size.
