A dumb tire question
I don't know much about cars and me asking this is kinda "dumb" but I need to know. I notice that some people have like those tires that have those plain, dull, no hub cap tires on the front wheel. Then they leave their nice stylish rims on the rear wheel. I think someone told me that it's called "donut" wheels (the ones in the front with the dull look). I just want to get some clearification on this if someone could answer my noobish question.
Is there some kind of special purpose for that? |

Usually it is because people are poor though. http://www.lse-performance.com/galle..._001.sized.jpg example of drag slicks, wheels don't match but none of that really matters. |
Re: A dumb tire question
It is the ricer look. Some broke racers use steel wheels on the front for their drag radials. They are trying to achieve that look.
Just point and laugh at them. |
Re: A dumb tire question
Its for the ricers. then 2 people split the money for rims and can put 2 on the back of one car and 2 on the back of another and not look too dumb(right...). The fronts are usually steallys. Donuts=spare tires. And also so the ricers can do those "big" burn outs and only spend the money on 14/15 inch tires not 16/17 inch tires.

Re: A dumb tire question
Yea! I mostly see them on "ricers". Mostly asian people driving a honda or civic.

Sorry, I did know. Just had a brain fart there. Hahaha, I feel stupid now.

Re: A dumb tire question
Some people also use steellys for winter tires. Cheap, doesn't matter if you slide into something, and no having tires mounted/dismounted every year.

Re: A dumb tire question
They don't go out and buy those steelies, they are the stock wheels minus the hubcaps.
<---white and a Honda owner...but not a Civic ;) |
