Ahh so you are who picked up this shell. I was eyeing this thing up on tuners and was sad to see the shell was sold lol. Glad it went to a good home

White calipers on a race car??? Please tell me you’re joking.

Looks like a nice clean shell to start a race car build though.

Re: 1997 white gsx - dedicated track car.

Lol - not a joke. I always wanted white on white. And for the 3 times a year I'll probably get to race this car Ill handle the cleaning.

As for the shell looks good from a distance, there are some flaws I'm going to address before starting the build.

Re: 1997 white gsx - dedicated track car.

Not just cleaning brake dust, but I don’t think the paint will stay white under racing conditions/temps. I guess three times a year isn’t much though, it may not fade that much. Just warning you even the stock red paint can fade dark with racing miles.

As for the ‘nice from far’ look, that’s what a race car is all about haha. As least cosmetically, I guess if there are structure issues or rust etc that’s a different story. Looking forward to seeing it complete and on the track though, hope you have fun with the build.

Hey are you still coming down the 9th?

I'm off work that day also. My wifes dog has to get spade around noon my wife said.

But I'm planning on swinging by with the kids once they get out of school

Just curious what you were unsatisfied with this shell, did u actually fit in there with that pre bent cage? I just read his build thread and seems like he did a ton of work to it.

Re: 1997 white gsx - dedicated track car.

Lol - good lord. I was just giving Donley crap about his car looking like Mark L twin. And then I go back and check out your build Dark2g.. and my word our white cars look like twins too. Hopefully mine will be able to represent as well as yours once I'm done.

As for the stuff thats wrong with the car. There are now really only 3 things stopping me from moving forward.

1)all the body work he did to the engine bay has to be stripped back down to the metal from what I can tell it looks like he used way to much filler and it's cracked. I sanded down a few areas now and there's no rust at all which was something I was also worried about.
There are also a few scratches by the doors that are down to the metal that I want to get touched up before rust sets in.

2)this was supposed to be a complete engine harness wire tuck which it was till the guy for what ever reason decided to cut (with either a razor blade or scissors) over 1/2 the wires at the ends where the connectors go.
He also cut the headlight wires the same way.

So I'll be getting and OHM harness with the relocation option once I finish up the body work.

3)the wife is wanting me to build one of these cars into a drag car. (She says she's ok with me having 2 if ones a drag car) she hasn't stopped talking about building one since street outlaws event I took her to. But if I do go that route I'd probably go auto.

Yeah, I look back at that once in a while just for kicks to see some of the old names and look at pics. I still have most of my old pics printed out, this was before digital cameras. :D
