I know my friend with a WRX is running without a sway bar basically right now, you just get incredible body roll. I'm pretty sure it would be teh same with a DSM.
Good luck son and happy turkey day. |
Re: crazy sway bar Q? need fast rep!
its just gonna cause more body roll and and less handling.

Re: crazy sway bar Q? need fast rep!
I'm driving my 2g w/o sway bar links. Actually I have been for a few months and it's fine. Yes there is some body roll but you get used to it (sadly). I am planning on getting some performance sway bars in the future, so I'm just leaving it how it is till then.

Re: crazy sway bar Q? need fast rep!
ya! the sway bar links are what i am having trouble with, the dam thing is striped so i cant get it apart from the arm, and i cant find my dam vise grips! it's only the passenger side thats giving me hell!

Re: crazy sway bar Q? need fast rep!
Break out the hack saw and buy some links...It's the only way. Next time, stick a screwdriver in behind whatever wrench you use to hold it in place so it does not slip as you tighten/loosen the nut on the other side.

Re: crazy sway bar Q? need fast rep!
Do you need sway bar links if you have aftermarket sway bars? Or do they go together? Sorry if that's a noobish question.

Re: crazy sway bar Q? need fast rep!
I had the same problem when I was disassembling my suspension. I had to cut 3 of the 4. Aftermarket sway bars do NOT come with end links. You need to purchase OEM. And they my friend are around $40-50 a pop. When or if you go in, please let me know. Maybe we can get some sort of deal purchasing 8 instead of 4.
Mine weren't stripped. They were just rusted beyond compare. I Liquid Wrenched those bitches, but with no avail. I think it's the design. You have to use (2) 14 mm open/closed wrenches to accomplish the job, and you must put an open between the ball joint and the nut (this metal is incredibly soft). Then you torque the nut off. |
Re: crazy sway bar Q? need fast rep!
oem endlinks work, it is nice to get new ones and not use the old anyways because the bushings tend to start cracking as they age.
