Re: 1G Roll Bar
So could you just add door bars to this to make it an NHRA legal 6 point? Or would you have to weld it in also?
|
Re: 1G Roll Bar
I don't think it can be made NHRA legal considering some of the tubes bolt together.
|
Re: 1G Roll Bar
what if once you installed it you welded those tubes together
|
Re: 1G Roll Bar
I believe plate dimensions are off too just from looking.

The guy was road racing his car. Never ran it on the drag strip as fas as I know. |
Re: 1G Roll Bar
for it to be legal, the cage MUST be welded. Bolt-in cages do not work.

This is taken right out of section 4:10 of the 2008 NHRA Rule Book: Unibody cars with stock floor and firewall (wheeltubs permitted) may attach roll bar with 6-inch x 6-inch x .125-inch steel plates on top and bottom of floor bolted together with at least four 3/8-inch bolts and nuts |
Re: 1G Roll Bar
I think the diameter and wall thickness is a bit light for NHRA as well, I can't remember anymore. I know that you need larger diameter tubing when using mild steel than the autocross guys use.
