Picked up a 43 inch Sharp Roku TV open box (dusplay right off the wall lol) from Best Buy for 155 bucks. Had to test it out with some tuna no crust :D. Fits perfect!

Are you doing face frames on the cabinets? Could always make a little face frame even if you aren't doing frames for the rest of the cabinets and make some smaller doors to hide stuff above the receiver. That'd probably look really clean or put a shelf above it and put something cool up there

Yeah I'm going to put doors on everything. I'm working on those currently. Just picked up a bunch of 3/4" MDF from home depot and a router.
I have thought of doing something for those ones. Like a face over the one with a sub that's maybe just a frame with cloth stretched over it so the sound can travel. Then something to cover up the stereo too. I don't have any great ideas for that yet so I'm just going to save all of that for last :)

also I have my work top started as well. Just need to attach it and router the edges. It's two layers of 1/2" MDF.

I’m loving the idea of mdf for a work top. Just screw in and not glue, and when it’s all beat to crap just sand & flip over for a brand new surface! Double thick means you have four potential resurfaces for free.

Andrew I don't think it'll work quite like that. I'll be routering the top exposed edge. It'd probably look odd if I routered that edge on all 4 faces. Also I plan to screw it down (I'll put screws up from the bottom). So if I were to flip this thing over, the new top surface would be full of holes.

However this top was made from a 4x8 sheet of 1/2" MDF. Sheet was literally just cut in half the long way (so two 2x8 sheets), then just cut down to about 85" long. So in the future if the top ever gets really bad, I can literally just run to home depot, spend $20 on a new sheet (and they can cut it in house on their saw), bring it home and screw it back down and be back in business.

Nice. Yea would look a bit weird with the front face having a routed edge in the middle. For mine I was thinking of doing inset screws from the top, so it wouldn't be completely flush but close enough for me, and I just plan on single sheet.

Updated pics. I have all of the cabinet doors cut (except the large doors) and routered. Totally digging this battery powered ryobi handheld router!! I put a coat of primer on them as well. This isnt the exact color they will be painted but in general is sort of close. So this is a preview of how the final coloring will look. Dark grey casings with light grey doors. I ordered hinges off ebay, should be here in a few days.

Also got the work top finished. I used two layers of 1/2". I didnt glue them just screwed. I now wish i would have either glued or maybe just used 3/4 thick stuff. No biggie i can always switch it up later if i want. For now just leaving it and moving forward.

Not a huge project but I finally put a nice looking top on my work bench. I bought a shop smith a few years ago and I didn’t like how much space it wasted in my already cramped garage. I couldn’t find a 13’ counter so I got two from the ReStore that looked fairly similar. The left one was originally a 3x8’ island counter so it had the edging on both sides. After I cut it to the correct depth I used the leftover piece as a new shelf above the tool box and tool rail/hooks. Excuse the mess in the corner, just piled a ton of stuff there since I had to clear out much of the work bench to screw the counter in from the bottom.

The counter over the shop smith is supported with a 2x4 screwed to the wall, and holds decent weight before flexing. Not going to be a surface to pound on, but plenty strong to hold a bunch of stuff. The shop smith rolls out and fits under the front lip of the counter.

Recently I built an 8x4' ceiling storage rack for my garage, because the space above the noble wasn't being used at all, and I'm tired of the garage floor being used to store stuff haha. It ended up being a fairly tight fit with the garage door support but it worked out.

My only complaint with the kit is that the vertical support bars aren't long enough, I could only get 30" of drop from the ceiling, and I would have liked 38-40" to get down closer to the door. Oh and there were basically no directions, just a couple pictures, but I was prepared for that based on reviews.

Kit was about $85 from Menards after the rebate, the brand is Muscle Rack, other retailers sell it as well but Menards was by far the cheapest especially with their 11% rebate sale. Much cheaper than piecing together something yourself, and it feels pretty sturdy. I'd have no problem putting a few hundred pounds up there.

I overpaid for a foreclosed auction house that had mold and burst pipes.

Bought the house (my first!) in November 2018 - I have been working on it non stop until now - Nov '18 to Aug '19. Definitely underestimated scope and cost!!! "Just needs paint and carpet nbd $10k" hahahahahaha.

House facts:

1986 Construction
3600 sq ft
4 bed, (2) full baths (1) 1/2 bath
Oversized attached 2 car garge (extra wide, deep enough for sideways car)
Detached 3 car garage
Detached 1 car garage

I broke the project into 3 Phases Phase 2 has been completed, and I'm too burnt out and poor to finish Phase 3 at this time.

The main goal has been to make the clean and freshen the house; the entire house was dingy, covered in wallpaper, and out dated to the early 90s.

Phase 1:

Get the mold taken care up, fix the plumbing, make house liveable, remodel basement to create rentable space.

Tore out sheet rock and insulation, replaced and repaired. Fixed all bust pipes, cleaned mold and disposed.

Had drop ceilings replaced with sheet rock
updated bathroom
painted all ceilings walls and trim
updated bathroom hardware
all led lighting everywhere
replaced water heater
installed washer and dryer
replaced carpet
replaced all outlets and switches to white

Replaced all kitchen appliances

Phase 1 completed and had two guys move in

Phase two: My zone
Skim coated master bathroom bc wallpaper was so fucked
oil based primed anything that had wallpaper because that glue is a bitch
painted entire 2nd floor all surfaces ceilings walls trim
replaced all light fixtures and fans with modern LED

Skim coated dining room bc of wallpaper
painted all surfaces ceilings walls and trim
replaced all outlets and switches in upstairs to white

replace all remaining carpet in house

Paved new asphalt driveway

Phase two is complete

Phase three?

Kitchen, main level family room, half bath, and hallway

This is gonna be a ton of money because there is a load bearing wall i want to change.

God this is overwhelming just typing this haha.

Slowly but surely making progress. Got all the doors painted and hung now, with the exception of the tall-boys. I had incorrectly cut the doors first, so I had to trim em down a hair and now they line up much better. Not perfect, but pretty deng happy with em considering it's my first time.

Next step is to add some shelves to the tall cabinets. Then make/paint/hang them. Then final step is to make the 4 drawers under the bench top. Getting close!!!

Coming right along... Broke ground in June. Maybe another ~45 days until completion?

The progress continues... Should be completed later this month with our walk-through scheduled for the 30th and closing date set for Oct 7th.
