It's official! DSMStyle.com is switching its name to MitsuStyle.com! Over the last few months we have been working hard to improve various features of the site. Over the next few months we will be throwing up new logos, getting a few more sponsors, and by the time the 2007 season rolls around we will be fully switched over to the new site.
More and more members are throwing in the hat on their dsms to waste more money on other vehicles. While this has been true for quite sometime and some pick up old 1G or 2G 'projects' many have moved on to 3000GTs, Evos, and other Mitsubishi cars. DSMStyle.com is an established community. Rather than putting on blinders and focusing *only* on vehicles with a driver's side 4G63, we want to open up the doors and make this a resource for other Mitsubishi owners. Let's face it. All cars have transmission issues. Troubleshooting the clutch on a Stealth is very similar to troubleshooting the clutch on an Evo. We'll provide vehicle specific forums as needed, but as a wider-reaching community we'll be able to offer a wider range of technical know-how. I really want this whole process to be influenced by the community that uses this site, not just one lone guy making random changes. If you have any comments or input you'd like to share, please post them here or feel free to PM any member of the admin team. Many of you have our phone numbers too, so feel free to call. I still gotta get used to this mitsustyle.com thing. It doesn't quite have the ring that dsmstyle.com does. Those of us who have the dsmstyle.com stickers on our car, do we get free mitsustyle.com stickers?

If you are changing it because a lot of the members on here have changed to a different car besides DSM's, well then lets change the name to www.mitsubmwhondalincolnchevystyle.com People didn't just leave DSM's, and get an evo. A lot of them moved on to completely different cars. I don't see a real good reason to change the name, unless you're looking to advertise the site on your evo, and don't want a sticker that says DSM on it. I don't have a big influence on decisions made on this site, but my humble opinion is that the change is dumb.

People moving on to other cars is not the entire reason for the change. After a lot of discussion we decided it was time to open our arms to other Mitsubishi models and somewhat redefine this place as being a Mitsubishi site, not just a DSM site.

Lets give this baby a chance to succeed as well. We have the team and member base to do it. |

Well personally, I don't like the name. To me it just doesn't have the same ring, as has been said earlier. But I really like the ideas coming out of it. I like that its going to be more mitsu based. It seems like a much better idea for more people. And if what I'm kind of picking up from what all you are saying, the expansion should be great!

The name will become a normal as our current name. It's not going to change on how people refer to the site. It's always "Hey, are you on style?".

I like the idea of separating 3s's, evos, and dsms etc. I just hope we don't lose the "unity" that this site has to offer. I'm also a dsm owner and I am sad to see a strictly dsm based website expand. For me it just makes it harder to find what I'm looking for. I just hope it works out no matter what.

I think that the change will be good. I kinda agree, the given reason is kinda silly, but whatever.
I am sure that the change will be taken care of in a good way and no one will find the quality of the site dropping. As far as the noob thing goes, don't be a complete dumbass, and then maybe u won't get owned. Pimpin' style FTW!! |

I have watched this site grow since the begining...(with my kids and their friends) and now as a family...well both my sons are members, along with many of their friends and me!
Everyone hates change. But change is good. It will bring in fresh ideas, new topics, & best of all new friends to chat with, who like everyone on this site like their cars and want to have fun. So it maybe hard to make the change....but worth it in the long run. So good luck "MitsuStyle.com" |

I think the name change will bring in a bit more traffic (hopefully for the better). Its amazing how this site has grown since its conception in....let me think here.....2002? I think thats when I joined at least. *edit* That thing to the left says I joined on Aug '03 which doesn't seem right. I know I first started whoring on the site sometime during my soph. year of college which was Sept '02 - May '03. |

I've owned the name sometime around 1999 - 2000 and i think the first forums went up around 2001 and it's been downhill ever since. ;)

yeah, we have gone through 3 periods of actual forum changes resulting in 3 times people have had to sign up. Finally biting the bullet with the vB software was the way to go.
We are keeping the DSMStyle.com name. I'll never give that up. Shit I still think I have midwestdsm still pointing here as well. Mitsustyle.com already points here. There is probably a few others we have snagged up. Chris knows more on that one. And there's one I want him to grab. ;) lol |

Personally I don't understand why people feel there is a need for change, especially after a huge debate already took place a few months back when the name change to MidwestDSM.com was proposed. I remember when Allan was on the verge of throwing everything in the dumpster and selling the DSMStyle.com domain but as already pointed out, the site is been a huge success. People from all realms of the Mitsu and non-Mitsu world already are participating members here. If someone feels that they're not welcome because they don't drive a DSM, they need to open their eyes and look at the community that has developed here, and look past what everyone drives. I have been an active member since mid-2002 and did not own a DSM until mid-2004. Having DSM in the domain name obviously didn't bother me. Quite frankly, I believe that changing the name to Mitsustyle.com is only going to invite more stupid fucking idiots who should be spamming the Newbie forum on Toonerz versus wasting everyone's time here.

I don't mind the name change. So go for it. And yes been here for a while also. And I agree it bring more people in. My only beef is that I don't have to resign up. But I think the vb software has the covered. So do what ya want to do man. If people hate it let them deal with it. Its what you want the community to be like. Mitsu DSM who cares. If you think Mitsu is bad. Then he could of done Eagle or Plymouth.
So I am one for the new change. I think I can live threw that. |
