Ok, this shit is driving me up a wall. My belts are making some ugly ass noise...how do I fix it? I know some think that if the car warms up it'll stop, but my doesn't stop. Every time I stop, it starts back up. I tried that belt dressing crap. Didn't do shit. Mike told me that I needed them tightened, well if that the case how do I do this? Thanks guys.

Tightening is easy, dont know on a 2g but for alternator and power steering its just a matter of tightening a bolt (on the alt), and loosening a couple bolts and moving the power steering assembly.

If tightening doesnt work then you just need to get new belts as they are prolly glazed over or have small cracks contributing to the squeel.

The belts that are making the noise are brand new.

I had that same problem a while back and it turned out to be my alternator that was overcharging. It ended up burning up a belt. I put a new one on there and it waas fine for a while but then it started squealing again. I used the voltage guage option on my turbo timer to find out about it. Everytime it overcharged, the lights would get brighter and the belt would start squealing. Mine shot up to 18 volts.

Now it could just be a tightening issue, but be aware, there are other causes as well.

the gator belts we used on your car I didn't really like the build quality of them.
with that being said here is how you do it.
Altenator belt, loosen up the bottom bolt (down by plug-in/right by block, near oil filter), then crank the 't' assembly until the altenator belts gets tight (i think it should have 1/4-1/2" of deflection), then re-tighten bolt.
Power steering: loosen up mounting bolts (2 are found inside of pully, pully must have holes north/south to access bolts, 1 is behind, and I think there is another in front, I don't remember, then just 'pry' the power steering pump back until it has minimal deflection).
a/c: there is a pully mounted that has 2 bolts, losen up those and push it around, then retighten it.
or call mike or me.

If I had wheels I'd come over and tighten them for you like we said we would, otherwise try calling mike's cellphone.
Did you do that oil-change yet? How is the clutch engagement? Did it move on you?

Ok, my belts are squealing like a vergin on her first day on the corner..

I tried tightening.. i tried loosening.. i tried lubricating... nothing helped..

if it keeps doing it over time it will shine up the pulleys and it will squeal all the time.. and that is what hapend to mine...

so yeah.. that suxorz..
