Talk to your tuner, and decide.

QFT. He's the one who has to ultimately deal with your injector choice getting the car to run right on them.

read this through, and found it interesting.

"I just recognize that the process of modifying the injector has the POTENTIAL to screw a lot of things up. Some companies do it blindly and just copy/paste injector data from some other source and hope that their customers aren’t discriminating enough to tell the difference. Other companies recognize the effects of each modification and go through the trouble to do the same SAE-spec testing to completely characterize their product and deliver good data along with the hardware for each individual part."

"As a specific example, Injector Dynamics uses the same Bosch injector body as the starting point for their ID850 fuel injector. A key difference here is that the ID850 flows about 12g/s (98 lb/hr) at 4 bar, so we’re looking a a huge step away from the stock flow rate with more than double the flow capacity. It would stand to reason that such a drastic modification would yield even worse results than the mildly modified samples we saw earlier if one were not careful. This is where it gets interesting. Injector Dynamics not only provides accurate, complete characterization data for all of their parts (http://www.injectordynamics.com/ApplicationData.html ), but the parts themselves are more consistent than other redrilled examples."

OEM parts ordered;
1 Oil Pan
1 Oil Pump
1 Oil Squirter
1 Banjo Bolt
2 Intake Valves
2 Exhaust Valves
1 Complete Gasket Set

All parts ordered, now I just have to wait.

Re: From ashes

Looks like a solid build. The waiting is the worst part lil

Maybe I missed it, but what turbo are you going with?

Re: From ashes

MAP EF3. It's on its way from MAP to Ron's place right now. Next week the chassis will be leaving my mom's spare garage, back to the shop for humpty dumpty to be put back together.

Re: From ashes

Cool. That's a nice turbo for a built engine.

Glad you're making progress with this! Think it'll be 100% ready for the spring cruise?

What's the eta of it being done? Getting excited now?

Re: From ashes

It'll be ready sometime next week hopefully. Ron's gotta figure out his schedule and then I'm going to take the day off for dyno and raping the remaining 4mm of tread on the tires :)

that's awesome man I know all too well what it's like to have your car down and the wait involved the great thing is by the time you get it back up and running it's like having a new car all over again!

Umm, you still have to break it in..

Kracka 01-09-2013 12:38 PM

Re: From ashes

I'm sure Ron is planning to break it in on the dyno. I'd honestly be more concerned about clutch break-in.

Re: From ashes

idk, depends on how he wants to do it I suppose. Tim just had his car built pretty similar (Built motor, EF turbo, new clutch, etc) and he gave him a break in tune and told him to put some miles on it before they tuned for any real power. That would seem to be a good idea on this car.

Trogdor 01-09-2013 12:56 PM

Re: From ashes

Ron was talking about that today. He said Tim's only driven about 900 miles on this tune. I drive a little more than that in a month. Less so now because I have a beater and still running on summers. But even with that said, I could easily have 1000 miles on it before April.

Re: From ashes

By "break in" are people here referring to initial ring seal, or a prolonged period of lighter use to discover other anomalies, before turning up the burner?

I can never tell on web forums.

goodhart 01-09-2013 01:59 PM

Re: From ashes

I would think the latter.
