1g auto starter noise
 
i swapped out a motor with bad compression and put everything back in and now i have a crazy noise when i start it. everything i needed came off the old engine and i put onto new 6 bolt. have tried 2 differernt starters with same results.

any ideas? here is a video of noise

Sounds like it has 1 working piston

Motor is fine. Starter noise is what I'm refering to

Maybe ring gear on the flywheel is chewed up?

Would think but we pulled trans ans switched torque converters to a nice clean one

So it's an auto transmission? Did the flex plate ring gear look good where the starter turns it? Maybe the inspection shield is rubbing on the flex plate? Or maybe you forget to tighten down a torque converter bolt? Kind of hard to tell where the sound is coming from in the video.

Did you reuse the auto starter plate if it was a 5 speed engine.

Auto trans. Same starter plate was used, swapped all parts over
